Went to visit the Steirerstüberl in Hotel Royer, which is an a la carte seperate restaurant with access for non residents, with friends from England. The service was superb. The food the best either I or my guests have tasted. The steaks we had melted in your mouth, were succulent, tender, and cooked to perfection. We also had duck, and a quiche with exquisite chutney, which were also excellent. Portions generous. The wine we chose was typical and unique of the region, and was also superb! Marvelous attention to detail, wonderful display of food on the plate, and also an excellent salad bar with enormous choice of dressings too. Simply superb! Fantastisch!

Important, we were not hotel guests. We came only for food, the first waiter didn't serve us as he spoke no English, or at least that's what he said. Another two just greeted us although it was pretty clear we were waiting to be seated. So after ten minutes we had enough of waiting. Pity.

Comfy and family-friendly tea house, coffee shop, restaurant and shop (yes, all in one!), sofa and free wifi included. Our espressi are strong and aromatic, our cappuccini are creamy. Our cuisine is inspired by food lovers' recipes from around the world.
It so difficult to find good Veggie/Vegan food in the Alps, so to find Artisan in Schladming was a real treat. Dishes were well presented and so tasty. The place is well looked after and the owners are very friendly with good English.

Stayed at the hotel on b&b basis but found ourselves eating at the hotel most nights given the good quality food and friendly service - restaurant constantly full - so HB well worth considering. Great to see regional dishes - and excellent Austrian wines!

THE FOOD: recommendable. Even me as a local I loved it! Had the "Tischlerei soup" which is a mix of many Austrian soups - very good. As a main I can recommend the Bull ("Schulterscherzel") - it was a very soft meat (cooked for 48hrs). As a desert we had the flower pot which reminded me of Pana Cotta. THE SERVICE: very friendly and attentive. Waitresses serve in the typical Austrian dress ("Dirndl").THE VENUE: very pretty. They managed to incorporate modern interior design into the Austrian wooden style.
