Took a drive by this area and other one statue out in the water, there is nothing there. No flea market, souvenir shops, or restaurants on the Malecon and LOTS OF GARBAGE!

Lovely place for an above average meal out with friends. The server graciously moved two tables together to accommodate our party of seven and we had ample room and were very comfortable. The long narrow room has tables with bench seating along the walls, chairs on the aisle side of the tables. Dim lighting, interesting decor and a super soundtrack playing in the background combined to produce a great atmosphere. We started with mojitos which were received with rave reviews and were priced at 150 pesos each. Two in our party ordered a second mojito but asked for less sugar . If you prefer yours on the tart side speak up before it's made and request less sugar. It was schnitzel all around at our table and no one was disappointed. Served hot and crispy on the outside the pork tenderloin was perfectly cooked and tender. The mushroom sauce that came with mine was tasty but there was not a lot of it. I would have liked a little more sauce to flavour the spatzel that came with my meal. Choice of sides included French fries, baked potatoe, German potatoes or spatzel. A small dolop of a tasty potatoe salad was on the plate. A nice side salad came before the main meal and was a delightful mix of 3 salads really, served side by side on a small plate. Cole slaw, shredded carrot, and a shredded lettuce salad were side by side on the plate, lightly dressed and very tasty. This meal was great value for what we paid, 310 pesos for the schnitzel dinners. We all left full and feeling satisfied. Our dining experience was very positive on every level. Try this place! You will love it!

My wife and I hung out here all week. Laid back, ow pressure, cold local beer, cheap, friendly service. Didn't really try the food- the restaurant next to it (Carey's) was good - shrimp, lobster. Nice to just sit under the trees and count the waves. 125 pesos for a huge bottle of cold beer ($3 US)

The Anchor Cafe was recommended by a friend who lives in this area, it was excellent. My wife had the meatballs, the daily special, which were made fresh to order. I had the Chicken Cordon blue also made to order. The plates were mouthwatering, flavourful and plentiful. Marlon is the owner and takes pride in his service and meal preparation. A highly reommended must try, hiding in the middle of Costambar.

The Tarappa is a casual restaurant with a timeless elegance in the town of Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, it has a branch in Playa Dorada too. Specializing in Italian food and Highlights for our pizzas and ice creams and with the great selection
Went for dinner with my daughter Jan 26ish? Change of pace from resort food. The food was excellent, the service amazing. My daughter had pizza, (she thought it was more like a panzaratti, fold over style), and I had beef filet with mushroom sauce. We ordered way too much food, not realizing. The steak wasn't as tender as the Keg, but the prices weren't either. Bruschetta was $4. us, Pizza $12.50 or thereabouts. $14 or $16 for the steak. The kitchen is open concept, you can see the chef tossing the crust, old style. Yummmmmy. Would return for sure.

We were out and about Puerto Plata on a tour and this little restaurant was the designated lunch stop. Definitely a great choice. The chicken was absolutely perfect. A must do at any point in the future for sure.

Celebrated my 66th Birthday with Tomas. Of all the restaurants in Puerto Plata, Le Papillon is where we wanted to be. Tomas served me bonus cut of beef and 2 huge lobsters. All done to perfection. The Ladies meals of chicken curry and steak Beerniese were given excellent comments. My friends, you donât need read many reviews to find out Tomas knows what Heâs doing, and treats people right. If you donât go yourself, it is your loss. You will not be disappointed. Tell Tomas Hungry Man sent you, remember reservations are needed.
