Reviews on International food in Phitsanulok, Phitsanulok Province, Thailand. Phitsanulok (Thai: พิษณุโลก, pronounced [pʰít.sā.nú.lôːk], also locally known as Pilok) is an important, historic city in lower northern Thailand and is the capital of Phitsanulok Province, which stretches all the way to the Laotian border. Phitsanulok is one of the oldest cities in Thailand, founded over 600 years ago. It is best known as the birthplace of King Naresuan, who freed the country from Burmese domination in the late 16th century, and that of his brother and successor King Ekathosarot (Sanphet III). As the crossroad between the northern and central regions of the country, it has long been important both for political and strategic reasons, and was fought over many times in centuries past. Phitsanulok was the capital of Thailand for 25 years during the reign of King Boromma Trailokanat of Ayutthaya. On the banks of the Nan River, the city was originally a small Khmer outpost known as Song Kwae, before the Khwae Noi River changed its course in the 11th century CE. Phitsanulok was also a provincial center of the Angkorian Empire during the Angkorian period. Phitsanulok is home to Naresuan University and Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University, as well as to a major Royal Thai Army base.

Really nice and clean hotel in Bangkok. The breakfast isn't the best but not the worst either. The staff is friendly and understand English. The pool is not that big but really good considering location and price. The small street the hotel is located on is really nice and quiet with different kind of restaurants. I recommend this hotel if you just need 1-2 days in Bangkok before you continue your journey north or south.

Not just for sweets, this place has a selection of Thai and some western food (ask for the menu). Mainly aimed at non-veg but a selection of veg food too. Very tasty and well presented and the owner speaks good English. There is a selection of board games to play.On the same street as Cafe Veg (not just vegetarian apparently) and It Is Cake (veggies be careful to say you don't want meat to avoid confusion - use Google translate). They are all in a 50m stretch. Another landmark is Bon Bon hostel (Sabaii is to the right of that). If you go for breakfast, please note the kitchen opens at 9am.Phitsanulok is an interesting and lovely 'Thai' town. Make sure to check out the new museum and excavation of the old palace. They seem very proud, quite rightly, of what's going on there.Enjoy!
