Things to do in Omihachiman
Best oyakodon I’ve ever eaten!!! Good service too so that’s definitely a bonus. Would recommend if you’re around the area

One day, one of my bosses in Omihachiman decided that she wanted to eat sukiyaki and this restaurant is well known for serving Omi beef (comparable to Kobe beef). So, I found myself sitting in this cozy restaurant/butchery eating sukiyaki for the first time. Not only was it extremely delicious (better than what I can make for myself), but it was well balanced (they don't overload you with vegetables). Then, it is meant (at least the meal I ate) to be shared, so it isn't something to gobble down, but to enjoy and talk over which makes the experience. The only thing to be careful about is that for 3~4 people it costs about 90~100 dollars, but you would still spend that much or more if you wanted to eat Kobe beef. Also, if you can't get enough of it, you can buy some fresh meat to take home. I would eat here more often if I could...
What to do and see in Omihachiman, Japan: The Best Places and Tips

My wife and I were unable to get into the vastly superior steak restaurant at Hotel New Omi so we settled for Tiffany. The starting soup was a promising carrot-cabocha, but things quickly went downhill from there. The salad, though it had an interesting dressing, was rather tiny and boring, even by contemporary standards. The omi steak, however, was the true disappointment. Mine was more well done than rare; I have had Japanese style steak in Japan many times, and this was the first time I was disappointed like this. The meat was not nearly as rich and tender as we had expected, though a few pieces were fairly flavorful. Honestly, though, the vegetables on the side were far better than the steak. Maybe the shabu-shabu or service lunch would have been better, but I would strongly advise anyone to not get steak here.
