Reviews on International food in Merano, Province of South Tyrol, Italy. Just a few miles south of the Austrian border, Merano (also called Meran) is an old spa town. About half the residents here speak German, the other half Italian. Take a dip in one of the thermal baths, or try Merano’s famous “grape cure” by imbibing - what else? - lots of grapes. The South Tyrol Museum of Tourism is located in Trauttmansdorff Castle, the former holiday pad of Austria’s Empress Elisabeth. Merano 2000, a ski resort that’s actually in the village of Hafling, is linked by cable car.

We had been at the restaurant the previous summer, and whilst it wasn't amazing, it was adequate for a quick meal and a glass of wine. This summer it was disastrous. The staff were unfriendly, more concerned with talking amongst themselves than with their guests. It took more than 20 minutes to get a drink after we sat down, and well over an hour to get our food. The excuse - their computer crashed......the entire staff was worrying about the computer, whilst angry customers were walking out of the restaurant. In the end, they offered to let us have our Aperol Spritz on the house - too little too late. We won't be returning.

Located in a basement close the railway station and the Friday market it looks more like a wine cellar/bar. In fact, the red wine I had was delicious. The home made pasta was nothing to write home about. Not sure I would choose again to eat âbelow groundâ in beautiful Merano.Modestly priced and very friendly service thoughDear Mr. Stephan J, thank you very much for your compliments about our stuff. We have a small but well selected assortment of wine and are very happy that you liked our red wine. It's very important for us, to offer only the best quality, wheter it be our wine or our provided menu, therefore we're very sorry that you didn't liked our homemade Pasta. Our chef is putting a lot of effort and heart in producing our homemade products everyday freshly. Our Location was a well known and much loved Restaurant which we refurbished and reconstructet, always respecting the old fashioned style of the Location. It's a pity that you didn't appreciate the special flair of our Restaurant Dejavu.Your Team from our Dejavu

I took my parents there for their 56th wedding anniversary. The restaurant is very nice (I would avoid eating in the "stube"), very typical Tyrolean. The service was extraordinary and the food exceptional. I actually found it difficult to choose just one starter, one main course and one desert. The wine recommended was perfect and it was one of the more reasonably priced one. Book well in advance

This place is high up at the end of a serpentine road. A fun way to get above it all and have a splendid view out over miles of receding mountains, the merano valley and the town. But the place is also about a superb menu with varied choices that were prepared to our great satisfaction. Very nice all around. The restaurant is run by two brothers, one the chef and the other the greeter, waiter and general host. Super nice. Not quite sure how this place draws customers as it is, to say the least, out of the way. But it's well worth the experience . It's a little expensive but not that much so considering the complete experience.

Hallo, during a short break 2 weeks ago I went with some friends Merano. We visited inter alia the restaurant âRametzâ.Not only the ambience was very appealing also the price performance ratio was excellent! The menue and wine list is well chosen and clearly for everyone. In my circle of friends there were no complains. All were satisfied to the utmost with the food.Especially noteworthy was the service: friendly, attentive, courteous and unobtrusive, and very professional â particularly in advising food and beverage selection. In a next stay in Merano I will definitely visit again restaurant âRametzâ.This restaurant is especially recommended. Many thanks for the pleasant hours !!!!

We went to this restaurant with my husband's elderly parents and they were delighted. There were also many young people eating there. The food was presented so well and originally and tasted fantastic. They bake fresh bread samples that they supply with the meals, and we had a salad and little entre taster as a " gift from the kitchen"! The staff were very attentive and friendly. It was not cheap, but also not outrageously expensive. Quite a homely atmosphere where you can feel pretty comfortable.

It has been a while since we were there; but, we are planning to go back soon. This magnificent gem in the Italian Alps is a five star experience!
