Restaurant Silberdistel With dream views over the Allgäu mountains you can enjoy a very special evening at the gourmet restaurant Silberdistel, which is distinguished with one Michelin star as well as 16 points in the Gault&Millau. The service team, chefs
The staff is of outstanding helpfulness, knowledge about food and drink and highly attentive. every member is knowledge about all of dining, not only specialized members of staff. And they don't hesitate to ask and deliver highly competent answers. Ameuse gueule is served before the menu is handed over. Very nice !Food was a mixture of both worlds traditional like Haeberlin and outreaching to new worlds like Madam Pic.The extreme reliance of local produce does not life up to traditional sourcing each time.Dear Deobo, Thank you very much for taking the time to evaluate your visit to our restaurant Silberdistel. We are very happy about your top rating and the kind words. How wonderful that we could convince you of our offer and service and that you spent some nice hours in Ofterschwang. we are happy to pass on your praise to our team. Very good, splendid, the best. We have eaten there a few times and we even got married in Bolsterlang and had our diner with 46 guests in this restaurant: just fantastic. Lovely people working at the restaurant (Doris & Guido) and the food is just great.Of course some more expensive, but worth the money for sure!

For a one Michelin star restaurant this is just not good enough. I would have been disappointed without the shiny star and with....well I was more than a little irritated in spending a precious evening here. All courses lacked clarity and perspective. The balance was out, sweetness to high, acidity too low, the beef (topside for goodness sakes!) was cooked sous vide so it was as dry as an old boot. Red, dry topside beef cooked sous vide in a Michelin starred restaurant? No, this is all wrong. The beef was cooked two ways and the braised version fared no better, a tough dry piece of sawdust in my mouth due to both completely unsuitable braising technique and part of the animal. The mini chocolate ice-cream on a stick had novelty value but was a kids dessert - the sweetness was completely overpowering rendering it to resemble something you buy in plastic at the grocery shop (i.e. a cheap commercial product due to the high sugar levels). The quince soup with poppy seed has to be the most revolting thing I've tasted in a very long while. I love Germany, I enjoy the food, I understand the balance of flavours in most cuisine varieties and respect and relish all of it when done well. This was just not. I cannot recall since being a 5 year old actually recoiling at something on my plate but that quince soup dessert did just that and we left as quickly as we could with it untouched. The atmosphere is tired and somewhat dated, the service was far from the sharp service that is at the "starred" level. We were staying in-house and for obvious reasons didn't return to Maximilians but enjoyed several evening meals in the beautiful village restaurants of Oberstdorf. Sorry if this review is tough but from my perspective it is honest.

I ate here on two occasions. I enjoyed an excellent steak, great wine, and a pancake desert the first time around. The second time, I enjoyed sizzling Fajitas with great beer. The food is terrific, the ambience relaxing, the service is superb, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I would be very happy to eat here again and I happily recommend it to you.

We loved our evening at Riegers. The service was spot on, really friendly and caring. The atmosphere was wonderful. Slightly modern still keeping the rustic charm befitting the town. We shared flammkuchen for entree....we LOVE flammkuchen so relished the chance! Perfectly crisp base, lovely topping, beautifully cooked and light as a feather. Main was venison for me and cooked to perfection with a lovely reduction sauce, perfectly cooked brussel sprouts and chewy parsnip. Seasonal, fresh and delicious. They served the noodles separately and I was happy for that as the dish didn't need it (in my opinion) the portion size was good as is. Portion sizes in Germany seem enormous! My husband had 200gms of rump steak cooked medium rare (you ask for it cooked "English" to get rare to medium rare in this part of Germany!). This dish was a bit of a let down for three simple reasons easy to correct. The steak was unrested so the blood drained onto the plate and mixed with the sauce to make for a pink look, not ideal. The mushroom sauce itself was just bland and needed a good dose of mushroom taste and acidity. The potatoes served with his dish were a bit oily and not very appetising. Just basic errors which I think were the result of a busy kitchen rather than an overall downfall in the cooking as my venison proved they know their stuff out back. So I would absolutely recommend Riegers. The wine list is small and very well priced, the staff really care and it's a great little restaurant we'd return to if we were staying longer.
