We were introduced to this restaurant by friends. The ambience is eclectic and the food served on both our visits was superb, with home made bread by Owner Dirk and his team. We let him know in advance that we would be bringing a baby and that one of our party was gluten intolerant. This was all accommodated with grace. The service was unobtrusive and welcoming - nothing was too much trouble. Our first visit was for Sunday lunch, and was memorable in every good way - the food could have graced any Mitchelin starred establishment. Our second visit was mid week, and was not so fancy - but then neither was the price. We will be going back every time we come, and I know now it will be the highlight of our holiday - roll on October! Thank you Dirk and team.

Every year for the past three years we have spent our holiday near L'Ametlla and eaten out a lot. Last week we treated ourselves to dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Cambrils which was lovely but Balco de L'Estany wins hands down. The location is stunning on a headland overlooking the sea and is wonderfully secluded - you feel like you've stumbled upon the region's best kept secret. The food was sublime. We had mussels and the local dish, fideua, both cooked to perfection with minimal fuss. The proprietor was very warm and welcoming too. The highlight of our holiday this year.

The kids loved the space to run around .and we loved the sun terrace without the usual worries about them.. Multilingual staff,(english run) good service and food especially fresh fish and rice/noodle dishes great pizzas and burgers Perfect place to relax away from the beach crowds in high summer. loads of parking!Good place,good people,good food.
