The Press Gang, located in the heart of downtown Halifax, is one of the cityâs oldest historic stone structures dating back to 1759. Boasting a formal dining experience like no other in the city, The Press Gang features an extensive menu with a rich array
There were three of us and we all enjoyed the seafood dinners. The preparation of the food was superbly presented and cooked. The service was attentive, courteous, and fun. Highly recommend this place for a premium dining experience.

My mom visited from abroad and I wanted to treat her to a nice lunch as we have had very nice meals at Gio previously. This was a very different and disappointing experience. We were greeted when we walked and in and were seated immediately as it was fairly quiet. We spoke Swedish once we had been seated as we are Swedish... The server came to take our drink orders but did not initiate any small talk at all with us (like she did with other guests where everyone at the table spoke in English). People usually think I am British when I speak English and my mom speaks decent English meaning attempting some small talk whilst taking our drink orders would not have been an issue. One would think that the same protocol should be used for all guests regardless of whether or not the guests converse in English or another language. We received our drinks and ordered food. We ordered the lobster rolls. They were excellent and we both enjoyed that aspect of the meal. I was disappointed by the lack of engagement by our server. I am not saying the service was terrible but it was not the excellent the level of service I have received when I have eaten at Gio with my wife. Thank you for these details, SwedeAbroad. This is not the type of experience we want our guests to have, nor the type of experience we should be giving.I take some solace in that you thought the food was excellent, but the service should have matched.I send my apologies for the disappointment, and should you want to talk about it any further, you can email me at [email protected] care!

Halifax is blessed with quite a few excellent restaurants. Brooklyn Warehouse, in Halifax's Northern End, is more of a neighborhood venue, but serving good food and worth a visit. It has an excellent selection of wine and craft beer, fairly priced by avoiding the huge mark-ups that most restaurants use. Food-wise, our table enjoyed the following:-- Beer & Chorizo Steamed Mussels ($12) -- "Nova Scotia mussels, house-made chorizo, scallion, grilled baguette". Very good -- the chorizo had a little heat to it, but very enjoyable.-- Herbed Gnocchi ($23) -- excellent!-- Seared Flank Steak ($29)) -- done to perfection and a nice presentation--Seared Nova Scotia Salmon ($28) -- This salmon was a large serving, but surprisingly bland. Needed some spice to create more interest.Bottom line, a good place for dinner -- good food and wine in a casual setting. Recommended.

You'll find the locals at Studio East enjoying craft beer, an urban space in the bustling Upper West End. Sit at the open bar kitchen and watch one of Nova Scotia's premier restauranteurs, Chef Ray Bear, personally shuck an icy plate of fresh oysters for
Have been here so many times. Exceptionally flavorful food. I love Asian Fusion and you can't go wrong at this place. Pad Thai Chicken Wings are awesome and Curry Fish Ramen......Holy Molly....one of the most flavorful Ramen Broth I had....exploding with flavors of lemon grass, lime leaves and Thai curry. Our sever Josh was awesome. Can't wait to go back.
