We are a second generation family run traditional Olde English Pub. Situated in the heart of beautiful, picturesque Coggeshall. We pride ourselves on keeping and serving award winning cask ales, delivered by hand pumps straight from our Roman beer cellar.
Had lunch here on a Friday. The staff were welcoming, we were shown to our table and drinks ordered. The restaurant area is adjacent to the bar, only separated by an open frame divider, so little difference between eating in the bar or the restaurant, and both use the same menu, but it was fairly quiet so made no difference to us. There was a lunch menu and a specials, with a decent choice between them We had nachos to share as starters, very fresh tasting and a good sized portion. For mains my ribs were nice, as were the sides. we also had the hunters chicken, although the tomato sauce it was in wasn't to our liking, maybe a personal taste thing. All in all, a good pub restaurant at reasonable prices.

Went to the White Hart for a father's day lunch and had a great experience, the food was excellent, my two young grandsons were very well looked after as were we all. Great food, great service and very reasonable prices.

Could not fault the roast or the puddings and great value. Highly recommended Sunday roast venue. Will review again when I go back for an evening meal.

The Layer Fox is at the centre of the rural village of Layer de la Haye near Colchester. Over 300 years old, it re-opened as a Free House under new management in the summer of 2015 having been completely restored throughout in cluing the toilets and kitch
First visit when viewing houses in the area.We booked lunch, rustic country interior, polite and helpful staff. The roast beef and lamb lunches were on the expensive side over £16, and the meat portions could have been larger, however the potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding, veg and gravy were delicious. Good selection of beer, the house Red was acceptable at a reasonable price.Worth a visit.
