Ristorante Profumo

Bistrot restaurant with typical Tuscan cousine. The first-quality ingredients make the difference. Enjoy the calm of the bordering termal park. It's possible to have lunch or dinner indoor.

Overlooking the park, the garden restaurant is a beautiful setting, especially at dusk. The food is authentic Tuscan and quite rustic which comes as a refreshing change from all the tourist fodder served by venues in town. Very reasonably priced too.

Ristorante Mason

This restaurant caters mainly for business dinners and couples. However, families are welcome and they make pasta al pomodoro on request for them. We had antipasti and pasta, and were offered pappa al pomodoro as a starter. The anti pasti were refined dishes, like a tarte and pate. The pasta was very good, not your standard ragu. The menu is equally devided between seafood and meat. Prices are somewhat higher than at a trattoria, but the quality and finesse of the dishes is also better than most. Strangely, we weren't offered a wine list, we could just pick red or white (or sparkling, very popular amongst the couples). We drank a reasonable red wine.

L'Osteria

We came here on the night when Italy was playing Germany in soccer, so there was a huge crowd of people eating and watching the little TV the restaurant had set up. We knew what to expect - slower service and a limited menu, as they were offering only a prix-fixe that night. We sat down and settled in to watch and eat. Our first courses were brought out right away. It was then that the problems started. We received wine but no cups to drink it out of. We couldn't flag down anyone who worked there for a good 15 minutes (and ended up using our water glasses for both wine and water). Engrossed in the game, it took us awhile to realize we hadn't been served our second course... for over 90 minutes from when we received our first course. No amount of asking the waitress did anything - she just said 5-10 minutes. Everyone around us (locals) received their full meals in a timely manner. We never did receive ours. After almost two hours of waiting, we left money on the table and left. We get that this was a busy night, and that local restaurants might prefer to serve local clientele, but two hours is just too long to make someone wait.

We dined in this restaurant twice at dinner during a short stay in late September/early October. This is not a standard Italian restaurant and we found the menu sensibly priced. As vegetarians we were catered for wonderfully off-menu. The staff could not have been more helpful and the quality of the food was excellent with an ingenuity rarely found in vegetarian options. Service was likewise excellent from English speaking staff. We ate early (19:00) and there were not many other diners but we were neither ignored nor fawned upon. Highly recommended.
