This was a special occasion dinner with our family and Cutler & Co certainly didnât disappoint. The service was first class, friendly, professional and attentive while the ambience was wonderful. The sommelier was especially helpful and knowledgeable when deciding between two wines on the list. The food was delicious except for our daughterâs fish which was unfortunately over cooked. She was disappointed as the dinner was in her honour and she didnât enjoy her main course. However, my husband thought his chicken was divine while my other daughter and I chose a vegetarian pasta which was flavourful and filling. The whole table were particularly taken with the entrees although Serrano ham was substituted in one of the dishes as the restaurant had run out of bresaola, which we thought would be a highlight on the menu provided. The two dessert options were nice and there was also a wide selection of cheeses.Despite a couple of minor issues I would have no hesitation in recommending Cutler & Co for a wonderful night out.

Like others, we also were a little disappointed with the low level of service. My motto is simply, happy to pay the higher end for our meals but the service must match the pricing. Non attentive, slow and other than for one staff member, unfriendly! Our meals on the other hand were magnificent! We went with the degustation menu, one vegetarian and one no seafood. The textures and combination of flavours combined with creativity was a credit to the team of chefs. Every meal was really a beautiful experience.

Food for the Mind, Body & Soul. Since 1988, The Vegie Bar has provided Melbourne with a vibrant, wholesome and abundant selection of vegan & vegetarian food in the bustling heart of Fitzroy. Made with fresh & natural plant-based ingredients.
I have visited veggie bar several times over the past year and each time been very put out by the staff! They are miserable, disinterested and as a customer I feel I am an inconvenience and very much in their way!! The food is fairly tasty but tainted by the rudeness of the staff! I have not once had a cheerful and friendly member of staff serve me no matter what time of day I have visited. As a vegetarian I like to go to places that I know I can safely choose anything off the menu and so the expanse of the menu here is great, however after last nights visit I will not be returning! And so let me expand on last night (3rd September) I was the first to arrive and asked for a table of 5, I was told there âprobably a table for usâ before being led upstairs. I was early and happy to wait for my friends but in the 20 minutes I was sat waiting there was no interaction with me and I was not offered water or any other drinks, once everyone had arrived we called someone over and asked to order some. It took a while for our food order to be taken however this was not the end of the world as we had a lot to chat about. The food for me was average, and as far as I am concerned there are plenty of veggie/vegan specific restaurants that far surpass your venue. When we wanted to pay we headed to the till where we were told no split bills, now I work in hospitality and so know split bills can be a pain and Iâm sure there is valid reason for this policy, however when I asked the lady on the till twice! Where the closest atm was, she answered me the second time with âThe IGA down the roadâ I am not from this area and having made the hour long trip to visit I am unaware where the IGA down the road is, in the end my friend paid the whole bill and we transferred her. Now I left here feeling annoyed at the experience, but not enough to write a review as I have never written one before, However it wasnât until my friend whoâs birthday it was; returned 5 minutes later to ask about the birthday card with a voucher in I had gifted her and she had accidentally left on the table, the waitress told her she had cleared the table and so it was in the bin, before reluctantly agreeing to look for it (to no prevail) and then I was very upset about the whole experience. Like I said I work in hospitality and when patrons leave anything behind we keep it aside for them incase they return, instead of carelessly throwing it away. To have staff that seem to care so little about people working in a place that youâd expect to care so much about animals is disappointing to the community. Like I said, I am sorry but I will never return to veggie bar again.
