Bridgwater is a large historic market town and civil parish in Somerset, England. Its population currently stands at around 35,886 as of 2011. Bridgwater is at the edge of the Somerset Levels, in level and well-wooded country. The town lies along both sides of the River Parrett, and has been a major in-land port and trading centre since the industrial revolution. Most of its industrial bases still stand today. Its larger neighbour Taunton, is linked to Bridgwater via a canal, the M5 motorway and the GWR railway line.

Lovely child friendly atmosphere, good food, great place to meet friends for a cup of tea or coffee. Food freshly cookes, veg/vegan friendly. Situated by the canal so would be very pleasant to sit outside in the warm weather. Would recommend.

It has been a little while since we last visited this pub. Since then, new owners have taken over. So far, the new owners have done little with the interior, which is good. As far as we are concerned, keeping the old-fashioned decor the way it is will not spoil things. Sadly, far too many pubs rip out the inside and replace everything with modern and tacky furniture. My nearest and dearest and I decided on ordering a shared platter between us. Some of the food we thought did not seem right, but in the whole we enjoyed our meal. Tomato sauce can be eaten almost everywhere, so why not make things just that little bit different by having a quality chutney, or something similar. That is just our opinion. Others might prefer tomato sauce.We met my cousin, who enjoyed her meal, so in the whole all three of us had a good long chat while we enjoyed ourselves.
