Nice setting and location, pretty good food, but the overall experience is a bit let down by the service. Half of our order for starters was forgotten. The replacement starter was luke-warm. When we asked for a second glass of the red wine we were having, the last tiny bit of the bottle contents were emptied into the glass. Instead of bringing a new bottle and a new glass, the glass was taken back to the kitchen area and brought back filled. What happened to first tasting whether the new bottle was ok? Where was the cork? Was the glass indeed emptied first as claimed by the serving staff? The experience could have been much better.

Met vier personen gegeten bij De Hoofdzaak waarbij er ook, na acht uur, life muziek ten gehore werd gebracht.De inrichting van het restaurant is eigentijds met zowel ''traditionele eettafels'' als hoge bartafels. Het geheel is ruim opgezet en ziet er verzorgd uit.Het diner bestond uit een hoofdgerecht en dessert.Er is geen keuze mogelijk. Het hoofdgerecht wordt afgehaald aan de counter; het dessert wordt aan tafel geserveerd.Het hoofdgerecht was niet best; een waterige mie met hier een daar een piepklein stukje kip met bot, ondefinieerbare groentes en een stukje ei on top.Smaakte nog het meest naar...water. Daarbij een klein schaaltje kroepoek.Het dessert was ijs, stukje spekkoek en slagroom. ook geen huzarenstukje.De wijn was overigens ook niet erg lekker. De bediening vriendelijk maar legde wel veel nadruk op consumpties. Ze kwamen na elkaar elke vijf minuten langs.De muziek was leuk; mooie nummers vanaf de jaren 70 en, voor een amateurband, goed uitgevoerd.Kortom; voor een goed diner moet je daar niet zijn. De lunch zagen we wel op het bord staan maar daarover kunnen we niet oordelen.

Zijn hier recent geweest met social deal. Lekkere lunch met ruime kaart. Ook zonder actie zijn de prijzen in verhouding laag. Aankleding binnen is leuk en bediening is heel netjes!

The quality of food is good and the service nice and warm as well. However it seems that the food took quite a while as my steak took more than half an hour to arrive after order.

Myself and a group of friends arranged to meet at Nielz for evening drinks. It was a warm evening and so lovely to sit outside on the wooden benches with lots of cushions, or the chairs around the tables. Someone came pretty quickly to take our order for drinks and snacks, but the actual serving of the order took around 10 minutes or more. It wasn't too bad though, considering just how many customers were sitting outside on the terrace and the small number of servers! The serving staff were very polite. The atmosphere was nice. I will return in the future for another pleasant evening here.
