Aarau (German pronunciation: [ˈaːraʊ], locally [ˈɑːræʊ]) is a town, a municipality, and the capital of the northern Swiss canton of Aargau. The town is also the capital of the district of Aarau. It is German-speaking and predominantly Protestant. Aarau is situated on the Swiss plateau, in the valley of the Aare, on the river's right bank, and at the southern foot of the Jura Mountains, and is west of Zürich, and 65 kilometres (40 mi) northeast of Bern. The municipality borders directly on the canton of Solothurn to the west. It is the second-largest town in Aargau after Wettingen. At the beginning of 2010 Rohr became a suburb of Aarau.

Had dinner multiple time as visitor from thotel. Staff seems to be under-experienced. The pasta's and salads are ok. Other food cannot be rated more than average compared to the price. They have agood selection of open wines but far from cheap. Staff doesn't know about it so rely on your own wine knowledge...

There are a few of these Mr Pickwick Pubs dotted around Switzerland. They are quintessential British style pubs.Have some decent fare on tap here, but I ordered some Valaisanne Zwickelbier (bière de cave), a lager from Sion. I had never tried it before but on the recommendation of the barman I went for it. I tell you he wasnât wrong, it was delicious, so good in fact that I had ordered another one straight after the first, this breaking my one pint one pub rule. Heck there were feck all pubs in the town anyway!!Pub had the usual decor to be expected from a British style bar, service was decent enough and in a very relaxed style, bar staff were a bit chattyDidnât detect any âBritishâ style atmosphere here, but it was a comfy place to have a few beers and they went down fairly well too, so no complaints! And they charged my phone!Place was busy enough for the middle of the day. As I couldnât find a whole lot of bars in the town I did return here again later in the day. Second time round a different bar man, friendly, said he never met an Irish man in the bar beforeâ¦..but i doubt thatâs true. Just had the usual Feldschlossen beer lager, which was fine, nice and refreshing and cold. Liked this bar, quiet and a good place to while away a few hours. Comfy and good pints

Have been several times. The burgers are made from fresh ingredients and taste incredibly well.If you're in the area, definately worth a try.Only downside; pulled pork only on wednesday :(

The newly opened Restaurant Kettenbrücke has a small but nicely put together menu. Some of the dishes come with a little "twist". The asparagus for instance were backed in a thin eatable paper.I like what they have done with the place regarding interior design.The service could be a tad better and waiting times reduced.Dear JohannaHallerThank you very much for your Feedback. We were exploring Aarau and needed somewhere for lunch. A waitress asked if we wanted lunch and when we said yes, she asked several gentlemen to budge up to make room for us at the pavement tables. My wife and daughter both had the burger special deal: burger, fries, salad, and a 5 DL soft drink, all for 19,90. When I saw my favourite Schweinschnitzel with pommes frites on the menu, I couldn't say no. A large beer on a hot late spring afternoon made my meal complete. The food was very tasty, the options were in my opinion very Swiss (although not the typical foundue).
