The food here is wonderful here, but that is only part of the overall dining experience. This visit was not particularly good from a service point of view- rather slow and 'surly' ? Certainly not what we expected. Restaurant lacked any atmosphere. We will return when back in Hull as the food is wonderful but they do need to address the important ' service' aspects. They have been trading at this site for some time and should therefore know what is expected in this department ?!

We come here very regularly with my husband and his grandad and the food is always top quality the garlic delight is the best curry I have ever eaten and the South Indian although a little hot for my taste is really flavourful for a hot curry.the service is always friendly and the portions are a good size would strongly recommend

When I go out for a meal, I don't often think of going for an Indian. On this occasion though, I fancied an Indian meal and was recommended Bengal Lounge.My wife and I arrived and were sat at our reserved table right when we arrived. We ordered drinks and were served those promptly.We each ordered a starter and main. The food was very lovely, hot and spiced just right. The Naan bread was really tasty and perfect to mop up the extra sauce on the plate.It was a good meal and reasonable priced...I'd defo go back!

This is the "old" (and original) Beverley Road "Tapasya", re-opened and rebranded as CHOWKI. (Not to be confused with the other "Tapasya" at the Marina.) Looking at the titles of the dishes on the menu, one might be forgiven for thinking this place was now providing more "conventional" Indian restaurant food. It's actually rather better than that, though it's not the trendy fusion concept of its original incarnation. We had a Chicken Biriani, a Sag Gosht, and a mixed vegetable dumpling dish, together with one Nan bread. This, together with a couple of Becks Blue each, was plenty for a meal for two. What struck us both above all else was just how good the spicing was: someone in the kitchen really knew what they were doing, and we were very agreeably surprised. The food part of the bill came to about £30, plus drinks and a tip. This represents good value for money. We will be back.
