Things to do in Karaikudi
This is a famed restaurant that is closed recently..not for renovation.. not shifted. Simply closed. It used to be a good vegetarian restaurant, with cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. Closed because of copetition from newly expanded vegetarian restaurant (Hotel New President) just on the opposite side..This I understood from management of Hotel Subalakshmi Palace
Ads in theatre bring one to this non-veg food place..locational advantage, right behind new bus stand..standard non-veg Food presented better in airconditioned environment. Limited parking. Service is poor as after taking order, many items are reported as already over. Country chicken (believed to be Nattukkozhi) is good. Fruit juices also available for a change in non-veg hotel..

This is a Palace built in 1912 by Raja Sir Annamalai CHETTIAR, a Native Zamindar of Chettinad, who started the famous Indian Bank and Annamalai University in Chidambaram. Its a family palace for their personal family functions and visitors can admire from outside. It's constructed with imported marbles from Europe and teaks from Burma which make this a luxurious palace comparable to any Imperial Design! Just 35 km from Karaikudi!

Authentic Chettinad Food, The best place for Chettinad food in the area. Very nice food, tasty, variety of authentic chetinad style.
We had our dinner here. Restaurant has a garden concept. However we refused the air-conditioned room as it was a little smelly. Food was tasty and service was good. Overall it was acceptable and can be recommended.

Based on our telephone conversation to the staff, we were expecting a decent lunch. However, the quality of food was below the expectation. The service of waiters was equally bad. They did not synchronize the delivery of Indian bread and Gravy. in spite of our request, they did not cancel the order for gravy, while the bread was getting cold. They brought the gravy after we were about to leave. The waiter was very impolite. Please avoid this tourist trap restaurant.

Pure Veg hotel. This a Dhaba like restaurant, with a open roof restaurant, though it does not offer a great ambience, definitley those who want to try Chettinad veg specials(paniyaram, kandarappam, ragi puttu, suyyam, etc) can head here. Food tastes good and keeps our stomach happy. do not expect full meals here, for lunch. Only veriety meals available (but very good)

We visited this hotel for a three-day stay at Karaikudi. This hotel was around 11 km from our hotel. This hotel does not have a covered car parking. But you shall find good parking space in front of the hotel. We did not find any hassle of parking our car. The breakfast, lunch, and dinner were very good. We had tasted food in a different hotel in Karaikudi, but we felt this place is spacious and near to our hotel. A good hotel for vegetarians.

One of the most popular restaurant in Karaikudi town known for its high quality vegetarian dishes with commensurate pricing ! The place is pretty well maintained most of the times and the staff is very attentive and usually responsive except for one or two instances during the heavily crowded weekend evenings due to the fact that the restaurant is situated on a busy arterial road. As also, parking becomes extremely difficult during such peak hours. One of the intriguing things and also the USP of this hotel is the freshness of the dishes and the way they are presented to the guests. Just in case you want to enjoy the Annapurna quality of food from the comfort of home, they seem to have started the home delivery via the Dial-a-Food option, but not sure how successfully it is running. Nevertheless, the ambiance, qualit of food along with the way it is presented will definitely make you visit this hotel again and again !Dear Guest,Thank you so much for taking out time to share your delightful words of appreciation about Hotel Annapoorna. It is truly a pleasure to know that you enjoyed the experience that we given. We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back soon.Yours sincerely,General Manager – Hotel Annapoorna

We ate well and fully appreciated the experience. We had the lunchtime feast, two dinners and two breakfasts. Every meal was tasty, well constructed and quickly served. They were also well described. Might not be to everyone's liking, but that would be their loss. Tamil Nadu curtails the wine that can be offered, which is a pity.
