Had a meal here for Family and friends for my Sister in Laws birthday, good atmosphere al evening, I had the Lamb Kata Massala, something I'd never tried before (or heard of!) and I wasn't disappointed, lovely strips of Lamb in a tasty medium sauce with onion, garlic and ginger, very tasty, and a very pleasant evening was had by all.

Arrived in Watchet for their WW11 weekend, after setting up our caravan we were hungry so called into the Spice Merchant hoping they solve our hunger!! Had a lovely welcome from the staff, there was a couple of other people there but not overly busy! Food arrived within a reasonable time, presentation was great, food was hot and tasted delicious! Prices were about the norm. Restaurant was clean and well present and as I said the lads were very friendly and welcomed us, chatted for a while too! Would definitely go back when weâre in that area and would recommend a visit if you like Indian food

I have been eating at Bengal Spice on and off for well over a decade - and it has got better and better. I now count it as one of the best traditional 'Indian' restaurants outside big cities such as London where fresh authentic ingredients are more freely available. On this most recent visit we ate Sylheti chicken and vegetable shatkora, both of which were very good. Our chapati was like 'home cooking', and even the very crisp popadums and pickle were right up there with the best. The evening we visited the restaurant was already full and the staff reduced in number compared to normal. But we still received a warm service and, though not the fastest it has ever been, the meal arrived in an acceptable time and had clearly just been cooked - nothing had been 'sitting around'. I will continue to visit on my visits to the Minehead area.
