Serving our favourite Indian street food on a Thali Tray. Located @Arch2 Ouseburn, underneath the Byker Bridge. Meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans are catered for.
Have been fancying an Indian for lunch on our weekly visit to Newcastle.....and found Thali Tray.It seemed highly recommended in its reviews!Regrettably I have to say we were disappointed..... l have since read more of the reviews and would comment without trying to be unkind, that the Chef really needs to ask for some guidance from an authentic Asian Chef... of Family Cook on how to use spices in Asian cooking and ask to work alongside the Chef or Cook to learn the processAsian Street food may have been the inspiration for Thali ...which cannot be faulted, but they fall far from mark.I could be really critical and horrible... but l won't..... Regrettably we won't be returning!

I love this Indian. The food is good like the popadoms, naan bread, chapati and the rice. The staff are really really friendly. You always get a very warm welcome. When you ask for the bill you get a free chocolate mint. It does takeaways which they charge £1.50. Really reasonable prices too. We will return.

A friendly place to treat yourself to healthy, fresh, delicious vegan Indian street food and drinks, all lovingly made to taste just like the chaat dishes you will find on the street stalls across the subcontinent. Sit and chat with a chai while you enjoy
This snack food outlet is one of the many delights of Grainger Market. We stop here often and are never disappointed. There is a small menu of freshly made, well spiced, Indian street food - all vegan. It's very tasty food that is also guilt-free. Even the plates and cutlery are chosen to have minimum carbon footprint. The whole place has care for your body, your spirit and our planet as core values. Yummy and very good value for money.

On arrival on Friday evening we were surprised to find the restaurant empty. We were led to a comfortable lounge area where we were told about the amazing experience we were going to have. The waiter then mixed up the drink order. When we were led to the dining area the waiter insisted on carrying our drinks which he mixed up at the table and then disagreed as we tried to switch them back. When the food arrived, two of the four main dishes were wrong (different dish and different meat) with no real apology. As the food had taken some time, we said we would just accept it as we wanted to eat together and not wait. However, after some time another waiter appeared with the ordered dishes as he 'wanted us to experience' them. One of these was still wrong (lamb not chicken) and we were most way through our meal by then, so they were largely untouched. It created a lot of unnecessary waste (we couldn't take away). The restaurant itself is nice and the food we had was good. However, it's pretty poor if the staff can't get the order right when they only have four customers in the whole restaurant (as remained during the evening). Also I personally think £5 per portion of rice is a bit expensive...

Stylish Indian, high quality cuisine in a cosy and relaxed atmosphere. Many will be familiar with the original Simla restaurant which has been within our family since 1981. The Simla has now re-opened, totally renovated with a refreshed look and feel and
We visited this restaurant on friday night, the place was full, nice atmosphere, good service and amazing food with reasonable prices, we've had 2 pre-starters, 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 rice, 2 rotis, 1 dessert and 2 large bottles of beer for £80 including tip. Its good to see restaurants that are high up on Trip Advisor actually justify their rank, the food was very good, some dishes better than others but thats down to our choice rather than the dishes being poor. Will definitely return for a date night in the future, keep up the great work

Washingtons finest Indian restaurant. We have a cosy environment, friendly staff and delicious food. A favourite amongst the locals.
Visited on Thursday 11th July for the first time since it became Bombay Barn, Welcome was warm and friendly as was the service. Opted for the 4 course special, Poppadom came without any pickle tray which I assume must be ordered additionally, Chicken Bhuna Puri and Sheek kebab were very generous portions and tasty, Lamb Vindaloo was hot but not as much as I was expecting, more on a madras level. Overall good impression and will return.

Visited this place twice after recommendations and have since recommended myself!Food is fantastic and the service just speaks for itself! Staff are very attentive and extremely friendly. Will definitely return again and I think once you go this will be your go to restaurant for Indian food like it has become mine :) My only point for improvement to make this place 5 star is the speed of food, this could be quicker.
