It is the administrative centre of Vas county in the west of the country, located near the border with Austria. Szombathely lies by the streams Perint and Gyöngyös (literally "pearly"), where the Alpokalja (Lower Alps) mountains meet the Little Hungarian Plain. The oldest city in Hungary, it is known as the birthplace of Saint Martin of Tours.

The only place we could find open on a Monday evening in October, but we were not disappointed. Great, fresh pizza and the most wonderful hot chocolate I have ever had. Like warm chocolate mousse. Great prices too.

I have been to this restaurant for a quick lunch break, with a colleague . I like the food, and I liked very much the accomodation . We seat outside, under some umbrellas, and around us there were some decoration, made with a nice cut of the green which gave something special to this place .

We liked this Trattoria the minute we arrived as it has a genuine feel to it and it is well done. I guess there has to be an Italian involved..!I usually dislike pizza and eat them very rarely, but this time I just felt like one. So a pizza and spicy chicken with lemon. We shared the 2 main dishes and they were both hot, freshly cooked and very tasty indeed. I love hot fresh food and this matched up well. The pizza was delicious...perfect base, well cooked/baked (they have a proper pizza oven), with a nice flavouring and with plenty of cheese. What more could I ask for? Well...maybe a little more chilli and salami/pepperoni. The chicken was breast, tender and full of flavour. All washed down with a soft medium white wine for my GF and beer for me. Has to be with pizza!Yes...a very decent meal well cooked and good value for money. Service was also very good. We would go back for sure.

Very nice and trained service, good central location, pleasant athmosphere inside and outside (little terrace) too. You can taste a huge range of wine / champagne. But you can drink beer as well. Fine coffee, snacks, cheeses, lemonades...Good for large groups. Really recommended wine bar with take-away opportunity.

This place used to be my favourite when it reopened, under the supervision of the owner.By now it became a horrible place, slow service, never smiling. Food is below average. Nothing special, for high prices.During summertime we went for menu with my kids, sat at the end of the row of tables, got no service for 15 minutes, when I asked, they told me someone will come. after another 10 mintues (and trying to calm down the yelling hungry kids) I asked a new waitress what the problem is, then she served us separately and apologized. i do not wish this restaurant in any circumstances, go to Pasztor Csarda!

This pub is the safest choice if you are in Szombathely. Although, it is not really appealing from the outside (and maybe from the inside as well at first sight), they serve excellent food (mainly Hungarian and Mexican dishes) in huge portions. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Nice drinks as well, all for a relatively fair price. Would defienetly go again!

we went there with a large company in which case you don't expect the same service of course. Nevertheless they did their best and we enjoyed our stay. The food was very good, I had game goulash with local dumplings cooked perfectly. The wine list is very short and lacks of imagination, I am sure they could do a better one with a little effort. Overall very good and well be back.

Been here with the group of 10 people. The service was fast and pleasant, the atmosphere is friendly, interio is comfortable and view relaxing. The food was good, the only thing which could be improved - it was not hot enough when served. Potentially because they waited for 10 dishes to be cooked and served at once but still... The portions are huge - be careful )) They have kid's menu. I liked the selection of local wines. Good value.
