Reviews on Healthy food in Messini, Peloponnese, Greece. Messini (Greek: Μεσσήνη) is a municipal unit (dimotiki enotita) and seat (edra) of the municipality (dimos) of Messini within the regional unit (perifereiaki enotita) of Messenia in the region (perifereia) of Peloponnese, one of 13 regions into which Greece has been divided. Before 2011 the same hierarchy prevailed, according to Law 2539 of 1997, the Kapodistrias Plan, except that Messenia was a nomos and the Municipal unit was a locality (topiko diamerisma). The dimos existed under both laws, but not with the same constituents.

We were recommended this by one of the Neilson staff and it did not disappoint. We sat watching the sun set looking out over the beach. The waitress (probably the owner) gave great advice and recommendations. The bonus of the garlic bread was a surprise - be warned it is strong! We had a lovely meal very reasonably priced. Only improvement would have been the service but that is because we didnât want to hang around!

Visited again after our previous visit to Kalamata with family (8) and it was even better than the first time. Great original Greek food and relaxing atmosphere surrounded by nice people. We had some very well prepared dishes and beautiful Greek wine (Rose Agiorgitiko/Moshofilero and Red Nemea). We are looking forward to visiting again next summer! Well done to the owner who maintains such high standards..

I visited Pleatea for breakfast with my family. I think it was one of the lovelier meals I had in Kalamata for its freshness, presentation, and service . The waiters are very professional which is a reflection of the restaurant. I had scrambled eggs and salmon which for onlyâ¬5.50 is extremely well priced. The other dishes my family had were the open sandwich and eggs Benedict, also all well presented and tasted delicious. Great place!

"Polychronis" is a traditional tavern that serves homemade food and offers a variety of choices from the all time classics to modern editions of the greek cuisine. It is located at the port o Kalamata, Messinia.
Having read the reviews before my recent trip to Kalamata, I was looking forward to spending some time at this taverna.Previous words and sentences were ticking all the right boxes.Authentic, Traditional, Mix with the locals, Speak some Greek to be understood, Quite back street etc etc.It sounded like just my sort of place but unfortunately it was a bit disappointing. For most of the time I was the only one in there so the atmosphere was not good. The food was fine but by the time I was half way through it was close to cold. When I went to leave I made a point of going to the counter to say goodbye to the owner who was in the kitchen to let her know I was leaving so she could go to the table to collect the money I had left (including a decent tip). So you can imagine I was a little bit annoyed when I got outside, she came running after me to say that I had not paid! I told her it was on the table but she disputed this. We went back inside and I waited while she looked again and found it. She apologised but it just about summed the night up.Maybe my expectations were to high and I am sure on another night things could of been so much better but I did not return to find out.

We visited Kalamata from Stoupa and were recommended to eat at this restaurant. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious and very well presented. What was especially good was that it was not a touristy type menu with lots of unusual meals to pick from. The location was good and the restaurant intriguing as it had originally been a railway waiting room.We will definitely return when we visit Kalamata.Thank you very much!
