The town is also the capital of the district of Aarau. It is German-speaking and predominantly Protestant. Aarau is situated on the Swiss plateau, in the valley of the Aare, on the river's right bank, and at the southern foot of the Jura Mountains, and is west of Zürich, and 65 kilometres (40 mi) northeast of Bern. The municipality borders directly on the canton of Solothurn to the west. It is the second-largest town in Aargau after Wettingen. At the beginning of 2010 Rohr became a suburb of Aarau.

The newly opened Restaurant Kettenbrücke has a small but nicely put together menu. Some of the dishes come with a little "twist". The asparagus for instance were backed in a thin eatable paper.I like what they have done with the place regarding interior design.The service could be a tad better and waiting times reduced.Dear JohannaHallerThank you very much for your Feedback. The best Asian food in the whole area. Everything is always fresh, dishes well combined and not overpriced for quality you get! Very warm and welcome hosts. Good selection of wines fitting to Japanese food. And you get not only sushi!Worth to try - we got hooked up from first visit and now coming back 2-3 times a month, - and we not even live in Aarau.Worth to mention that our Japanese friends were also impressed by food here, as well as original Japanese dishes, which some of them are hard to get in restaurants - they are typical home made food.Interior and atmosphere is very minimalistic, catching Japanese style, and well designed.Love this place!

Nice place to have a cheese fondue. They have different twist to fondue with spices, ananas, lemongrass etc. Service was ok en a very pub kind of place. Nice with bigger groups.

Had dinner multiple time as visitor from thotel. Staff seems to be under-experienced. The pasta's and salads are ok. Other food cannot be rated more than average compared to the price. They have agood selection of open wines but far from cheap. Staff doesn't know about it so rely on your own wine knowledge...
