Duke's La Jolla is named in honor of native Hawaiian Duke Kahanamoku, an Olympic swimming and water polo medalist and the father of modern surfing. Overlooking the La Jolla Cove, Duke's serves genuine, friendly hospitality with contemporary interpretation
Duke's was excellent. Had the Shrimp and Pasta, which was delicious and large portion. Others had a decent burger, good fish tacos, and excellent ribs. However, the Coconut Shrimp were "not very coconut-y". The service and atmosphere were also very good.

We were there for dinner tonight. Food was good, Service was good, friendly, attentive staff. However, using the restroom about 8:30 PM it was very disappointing. I believe cleanliness in the bathrooms is a reflection of cleanliness in the kitchen. Women's room stall was littered with toilet paper covering the floor, seat covers empty, vanity dirty. My daughter worked at the Brigantine restaurant a few years ago and said the bathrooms were checked hourly to ensure cleanliness. My impression is there is not good management overseeing these small, but important details .

We're a cozy Hawaiian spot on the corner of La Jolla Blvd. & Pearl St. Our menu ranges from Hawaiian favorites like the quintessential Plate Lunch, to Loco Moco and Ahi Poke. We also serve more of a local style in our Mahi Mahi Tacos, Hamburgers, and Acai
We ate dinner here on our first night in La Jolla on the advice of the property manager where we were staying. We were so glad that we did. This is not a fancy place. It has a storefront appearance. But, the food is fresh, delicious, and clean tasting. The price was reasonable and the service was friendly. It was just the comfort food we needed for our bodies after a long day of traveling.
