Reviews on Grill food in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Many tourists know Windsor for its casino. But if you dig a little deeper, you’ll find fascinating history here. Once an important stop on the Underground Railroad, Windsor became an important center of whisky production and, thus, a major smuggling port during Prohibition. (Apparently Al Capone liked his Canadian Club.) In summer, catch the enormous fireworks display at the International Freedom Festival.

When we found the online ratings, it didn't seem to fit with our first impression when we approached the building. The place looks a little rough and run down. Although the sign above the restaurant reads "MCM", the facility IS in the blue building across the street from Juniper Books; the sign is on the window identifying it as "Roast and Toast." The place has limited seating, it's completely mismatched, and it's PACKED with customers. We went for brunch on Sunday. We got there around 10am. Thereafter, people who arrived had to wait for seating or sit at their charming diner counter. The servers were timely, cheerful, and kept the coffee coming. My friend and I each ordered a club house and split the fries that came with the combo, because the amount of fries you get with one combo is gigantic. They certainly don't skimp on serving size. Both of us ordered it on toasted rye. The fries are handcut, fresh and SO GOOD. Not only that, but the prices can't be beat. We were shocked at how different our impression was after spending time here. We will definitely be back!Thank you so much for giving us a chance. We are happy you didn't let the building deter you from trying out our food. We are just waiting for the day we can give the place a whole new facelift. We would just love that. The place itself has been running since the 40's and it definitely still has some of that vintage character going on. Right now we've given it it's second paint job in 6 years and in the process of working on some other things. So happy to hear you enjoyed the food and service. Hope to see you back again soon.
