The Lychgate is an exciting new addition to the growing Joseph Holt estate which was acquired from a private owner at the back end of 2016. Located in the town of Standish, Wigan. The pub has been completely transformed into a cosy traditional pub with ba

Went last night to Turkhan, our first and definitely not our last time. Went as a group of ten. We had some allergies in the group and everything was catered for. Staff were attentive and extremely polite. Food come hot and very well presented. Drinks were never empty. As it was a birthday the birthday boy got a baklava cake and it was extremely tasty. We had the mixed platter for two. It was huge and so tasty we had to bring some of it home we couldnât eat it all. Not one complaint from anyone in the group. Will be returning 100% Thankyou for an amazing evening.

Enjoy the Houghwood experience in a perfect setting, overlooking the beautiful North West Countryside. With a modern British menu on offer, together with traditional Sunday Lunch. The first floor restaurant with its great food, friendly staff, magnificent
Very pleasant surroundings with beautiful views as far as the river Mersey. Brunch in the Spikes Bar was okay but the menu has been much reduced including the disappearance of the scrumptious turkey and cranberry sandwiches. No festive afternoon teas being served this year also a disappointment. Hopefully the new year will see a review of the menu. Also £2.25 for a small bottle of Coca Cola is rather excessive.

Local privately owned Steakhouse endeavouring in the pursuit of the perfect steak using locally sourced ingredients and fair price trading
I reviewed the Fat Bull a month ago and there were several issues I wasn't happy with, and I shared these in a constructive way with the management. They listened and they responded. I returned to eat there the following week to find that they had ensured a member of the management team was front of house, and the chateaubriand was delicious again, but the second time I wasn't left to carve it myself, but given the option to have the chef prepare it for me. I was really impressed that the staff really showed they wanted to improve, and responded to an ordinary diner like me. I continue to be impressed with the steak at the Fat Bull, and on Thursdays when there's a half price offer on, you'd have to drive miles to beat it.

Tex/Mex restaurant and a cocktail bar in the middle of lively Wigan town centre. We offer to you an exciting and delicious range of fresh homemade food from Mexico and Texas. From homemade nachos to 20 hour smoked ribs. We will accommodate your every need
Booked a table for 6 via open table and this simply hadnât gone through to the venue and it seemed like they were confused by this.A table was found for us which was big enough and comfortable. The waitress was very polite and there were menus on the table, along for some reason with some cheap sombrero hats to remind us we are in a Mexican themed restaurant. This adds nothing. The starters were to share and the plate of £10 nachos wasnât really worth that money, Iâve been to many places where £10 buys you man more nachos. The meat platter starter was acceptable and everyone got a good share of meat. Unknown why there were two British bread rolls on the Mexican platter. For my main meal I didnât fancy anything Mexican themed and spicy so open for a rib eye steak, unfortunately they didnât have any of this and therefore I then swapped for the sirloin and upgraded to surf and turf. When this arrived it looked great. The enjoyment of my particular meal ended there. Having ordered the steak blue this meat was clearly medium or medium rare at the best. The meat was relatively tasty but very dry, no juice of any sort cane out of the meat. The prawns were small and again over cooked to be reminiscent of small rubber washers with some caramelisation. The fries were ok but went cold quickly. The benefits I found were that someone at some point had purchased in some really nice steak from a good butcher. For £20 I can go and buy my own steak and cook it to my liking. Eating here also meant I didnât have to stack my own dishwasher at home but beyond this thereâs little of merit.Poor rating as actually the company was good and we had a relative enjoyable experience and the beer isnât too pricey.
