Dona Maria is right around the corner from the main square but virtually miles away from the main tourist routes. It was a fantastic random choice for lunch. Local specialty Francesinha is a sumptuous layered open sandwich with different meats, cheese and egg (tomato sauce is slightly overpowering). Stuffed mushrooms and garlic shrimps were also excellent. Bread was accompanied by tasty alioli (or, "alho" in Portuguese) sauce. Loved it.

Sunday lunch at Xisko = fantastic! One vegetarian and one meat eater could both have excellently prepared food here. The chicken breast with salad was grilled just as it should be combine with a party orange sauce. The seitan and tofu scewer was a hit, a welcome barbeque feeling for the vegetarian. Perfectly grilled. Staff spoke very good English and knew very well the difference between vegetarian and vegan. We will definately return when we have the possibility!

Great service from the moment you enter the place until you leave it. The food is amazing with delightful range of typical dishes from the region. You feel confortable in a modern environment but with a twist of typical Portuguese restaurant.
