This restaurant is attached to a boulangerie. We had seen it many times but had not visited, so we booked a table on their facebook site, but do not think it was seen as we didn't have a reservation! The weekly menu is always listed on there, so we were looking forward to Coq au vin when we visited on Monday January 16. Unfortunately they had sold out and we were offered a chicken burger instead, we ordered this with some trepidation knowing from past experience that they are often inedible. We need not have worried however as it was not the usual minced up tasteless thing, but a chicken breast in a bun. We were not asked if we wanted ketchup but it was already in the bun, and as I don't like ketchup, I was trying to scrape it off when the manager (?) appeared, apologised and replaced my burger. There is no choice of menu, just a plat du jour and dessert is chosen from the patisserie on display in the shop.

We were in the area at mid-day on a Tuesday, and having previously ascertained that Le Chalut (rank #1) had closed down, we arrived here to find we had the place almost to ourselves. L'entrecote is on a busy road, but parking in the street doesn't seem to be a problem. The welcome and service we found outstanding. Opting for the 17 euro formule, we both selected the "house speciality" of entrecote followed by a pear dessert. The entrecote cooked over charcoal and bleu, as we asked, was chewy and the accompanying frites soft and rather oily, lacking the crispness we were expecting.By contrast, the dessert of poached pear, coated in chocolate, with ice cream was very well presented and most enjoyable. After the glowing report from "noixdecajou", we were especially disappointed with our house speciality. By the time we left, the outside tables had a number of occupants; it must be a popular place, as there are probably seats for more than 75 people and we presume these are filled at busier times. As there are plenty of superior alternatives not far away, we wouldn't go back.
