We stopped to eat at Borda Casa Vella on our drive through Andorra. It's located across the river from La Massana, away from all the people and shops. There is ample parking in the municipal lot across the street. If you go, be aware that the online maps (e.g. Google, Yahoo) are misleading because some of the roads into the area are private and cannot be used. After being misguided by our GPS, we ended up going by way of Ctra. d'Anyos which can be accessed from CG-3 just south of La Massana. From there, it's about a 5-10 minute drive to the restaurant. The restaurant itself has a pleasant outdoor patio, but the inside is wonderfully rustic - stone walls, wooden tables, spiral staircase, etc. We went for late lunch on a Tuesday, so we were the only customers. As it was a beautiful day, we elected to sit outside in the sun and enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains. It seems like a family run place, so the service is down-to-earth, friendly and gracious. The husband and wife (?) work the tables and the grandfather (?) works the kitchen. For those linguistically challenged, I know they speak at least English, Catalan and Spanish. The menus were also in various languages including, Catalan, Spanish, English, Russian and French.None of us have ever been to Andorra, much less eaten Andorran food, but as you might expect, the menu appeared to be a blend of French and Catalan cuisine. We ordered....the house salad (Amanida de la Casa), plate of pates (Taula de Pates), snails (Caragols - forgot which one) and the Black and White sausages (Blanc y negre). To be honest, we had no clue what to expect. We probably should have asked for some suggestions, be we were all exhausted from a long drive. With that said, we all enjoyed our food very much. Usually, we order escargot at French restaurants and at most, you get about a dozen or so of the little mollusks. Needless to say, we were shocked when about 60 of the little fellows appeared before us! It takes a long time to go through them all, but they were delicious. The pates were all pretty good as well, but I did not order them on purpose - they were called "Table of Pies" on the English menu... It would have been better if the plate came with a little bit of the local honey or preserves and a few pickles or olives. The house salad was exactly what you would expect - nothing particularly special, but nothing wrong either. The sausage platter was a little greasy and could have been presented a little nicer, but the blood sausage was quite good. The other one was a bit dry for us, but had good flavor. It came with a side of fries as well. I've included photographs of all our dishes.Overall, we were very happy with our meal. We paid about 40 Euros which seemed very reasonable to us. They have a weekday daily menu for 12 Euros (15 on weekends and holidays), but unfortunately, I forgot to jot down what came with it. At the end of the meal, we purchased some locally sourced honey inside the restaurant from the young daughter of the couple running the place. We ended up eating it in France a few days later and it was outstanding. If you happen to be in the area, we would recommend Borda Casa Vella for a very pleasant meal served by a very friendly family.Thank you for your feedback and reviewAs we just opened five mounth ago your feedback gives us the confidence that we are doing something rightI look forward to your next visit to Andorra and hope that you will choose to eat with us. Have a lovely day!

we were staying at the hotel Comapedrosa, so we decided to eat in the taverna, despite very loud music coming from the bar. so glad we did. the food was plentiful and very tasty. the young man cooking serving and working being the bar was working very hard as was the young girl who was behind the bar serving at tables and running the Hotel reception. two very nice people who were obviously an asset to this establishment.

Hunters is by far the best place in arinsal. the food is great...the service is excellent and you can even text from the terrace and they bring drinks out to you on the terrace! the clientelle is highly eclectic from NZ Sheep farmers on their first trip abroad to men of international mystery. The sport is excellent and one of the most popular events is Englands annual attempt and failure to win the Calcutta Cup which is almost as traditional as the Tapas run which this year Hunters did extremely well in coming a close second. the staff are all excellent from Eloy and his team of Peruvian chefs to the bar staff Linda, Michelle, Carolina and their new assistant Mike. If i had to make one criticism its the fact that they tend to show too many Manchester City matches which have little appeal to an international audience.....maybe invest in Rangers TV or the Sevens ? just a suggestion
