Originally wanted to go to Johannsen's down the road, which, on a Friday night at 9pm in low season, had already send the cook home. Akropolis was the only place around that was still open (except for the doner place next door which did not look very inviting). Second time we tried Johannsen's they were so busy they had no table, so we went back to Akropolis. Both times Akropolis served great Greek food, preceeded by a complimentary glass of ouzo and ended with a complimentary plate of Greek yoghurt with honey. I like Johannsen's for the atmosphere but boy am I glad it couldn't accomodate us as otherwise we would have missed this rather authentic Greek restaurant. We truly enjoyed our visit, both times.

We stopped in for a lunch special and had a surprisingly good meal with fish and plenty of vegetables. Decent service, very nice atmosphere, and good value. It would probably be a regular stop if I lived nearby.

Looking for a reasonably priced restaurant within easy walking distance of our hotel and fancying an alternative to German cuisine we discovered Korfu. This family-run business has been in existence since 1981 and is popular with both tourists and locals. The staff were friendly and welcoming and very happy to discuss the various dishes. The calamari was delicious but the real star of the show for us was the paklava. We were so impressed with our evening meal that we went back the following day and enjoyed a sharing platter for lunch.

Went with the family twice now and had each time the best gyros and suvlaki we ever had compared to anywhere else in central Europe, even though I'm a big fan of Greek food. The owners of this new restaurant are friendly and very welcoming. We felt like being in Greece again. As with most original Greek restaurants, this is a feast for meat eaters, with limited choices for vegetarians, obviously. PS: try the Greek yogurt with carrots. Tip for gents: the bathroom sink's tap opens in the opposite direction (clockwise).

This is one of the (more or less) hidden gems of Lübeck. Located slightly at the outside of the city (app. 7km away from the city center in the loveley village Groà Steinrade which is still part of Lübeck) you find "greek restaurant" which is totally non-greek in terms of the food served. You find a selection of international specialities with lot of different influences like flank steaks, giltheads, tuna steaks and as a speciality local game which was hunted hunted down by the landlord himself. There is no printed menu, the host comes to your table with a handwritten list of today's offerings and you can hardly go wrong. Of course the prices are more on the higher side and not comparable to average greek restaurants, but the value for money is very good.Once you are there, give a chance to the greek wine on the menu, you might be suprised of the quality if you are only used to low level greek tourist wines.
