Although the fresh interior was promising, the new menu is very different.I think they aim for a less traditional Greek menu, more Mezedes (Tapas-like) approach.I expect they will attract a different group of people with that. Not sure if that's us...Thanks for your review...We are trying to overcome the standart "Greek" kitchen that is presented in Europe, and bring in more and more traditional Greek food, what we serve as Meze, what is more commen in Greece than meat and fries...I hope we will welcome you back, and impress you with our new setup..Greetings

Imagine youâre tired and worn out from the day s events and decide to just eat out today. Well, by all means, find your way here. The people are of course friendly and then the food: I dare you, try âOmaâs stoofpotjeâ and oven dish with stewed leg of lamb, potatoes and feta. Itâs to die for. It made my day. So, go and enjoy this place, I think you ll like it.

It was delightful to be greeted by our waitress with a couple of shots of ouzo after a long day of train travel from Montreal to Heerlen. That being said, what came next was an evening of friendly and attentive service coupled with a lacklustre meal. The 'souvlaki' was a skewered meat 'product' on a plate of carbs (rice and fries). The vegetarian platter was a bit more balanced, yet bland. The decor, music and genuinely friendly service made up for what the food lacked - but it would have been nice to have a better tasting meal!

El Greco Heerlen, een traditionele Griek & internationaal restaurant. Ook geschikt voor grote groepen. *Keuken is geopend tot 22.00 uur.*
My partner and I went to El Greco to celebrate the start of a 3 week holiday. We were met at the restaurant door and were pointed towards a table. Not very welcoming at all. As soon as we were seated, a waiter with Ouzo came to the table bringing cutlery, then another waiter brought the menus, and asked for a drinks order. We'd only just sat down.! We ordered a half litre of the house white, and as soon as it was brought, the waiter was back for our dinner orders. We had to ask for more time. The atmosphere seemed rushed and very professional, although a couple of the waiters were friendly and while the service was all very swift, I didn't feel like we were expected to eat and go. The food is amazing.! I had the Greek Chicken Soup, which was a watery broth with lots of chicken, Greek pasta and herbs. It was delicious, one of the best chicken soups I've had. It came with 4 bread rolls. I ordered the Gyros From The Oven as a main. It didn't look like much, just a stubby bowl with gyros, mushroom sauce and cheese on top, but it was very filling and absolutely delicious, and I couldn't finish it. For dessert, I tried the Kataifi, with ice cream and whipped cream. It was very, very sweet and sticky, but again, delicious. I had some Drambuie afterwards. When we asked for the bill, we were also brought small glasses of a green drink, with ice in it. I have no idea what it was, but it wasn't very nice. It had a mild taste of bubblegum and almost ruined the lovely warm flavours of the meal we'd just had. Neither of us took more than a small sip. The bill was reasonable at just over â¬70. We're definitely going back.Dear TheOnlyRogueAngel,Thank you for the review. We hope to see you soon again! With kind regards,Team El Greco

This is one of the better Greek restaurants I have had the pleasure of trialling in Heerlen. The,decor is bright and clean. The service is good and the prices are reasonable. There were twelve in my party and all loved their food, some saying it was the best they has tasted.

Set in a modern town centre in a corner of Holland Carpe Diem is a new (at the time of writing) Greek mezze restaurant.Staff are friendly (helped when their credit card machine failed necessitating a trip to the nearest ATM). The menu, written in Greek title with Dutch explanations was a bit of a challenge to a speaker of English, OK French and v.poor German but Google came to the rescue! The food was pleasant, the pitta and bean dishes especially so.They operate on an all you can eat basis so good value if you go with a good appetite!

We had dinner there recently. The service was nice and efficient. The deco of the restaurant was a bit annoying to me, but probably depends on your tastes. The cuisine itself was a bit disappointing. We had scampis and gyros and both dishes were super salty. It was served with fries and rice together, which looked strange to me and not very "greek". It is quite successful anyway and reservation may be necessary.
