Find out what Greek restaurants to try in Famagusta. Famagusta /ˌfæməˈɡʊstə, ˌfɑː-/ (Greek: Αμμόχωστος locally [aˈmːoxostos]; Turkish: Mağusa [mɑˈɰusɑ], or Gazimağusa [gɑːzimɑˈɰusɑ]) is a city on the east coast of Cyprus. It is located east of Nicosia and possesses the deepest harbour of the island. During the medieval period (especially under the maritime republics of Genoa and Venice), Famagusta was the island's most important port city and a gateway to trade with the ports of the Levant, from where the Silk Road merchants carried their goods to Western Europe. The old walled city and parts of the modern town presently fall within the de facto Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in Gazimağusa District, of which it is the capital. It is also notable as the birthplace of the eponymous hero of the Renaissance proto-novel Fortunatus.

An excellent traditionla Greek Taverna on the main Protaras Road from Paralimni to Protarsa
The location for this restaurant is on the main road from Paralimni towards Protaras and Cape Greco and at first glance does not seem like the best location for a traditional Cyprus meze, however, the food, wine and atmosphere is excellent. We shared a fish meze and the quality was superb and the only complaint was that there was so much we could not finish all the dishes!Good attentive service with a full local wine list.We were the only non Cypriot customers in a very full restaurant for a Wednesday evening. Will go back next time we are in Cyprus.
My friends and I were staying at a family villa in a village nearby and decided to come here for dinner for our last night. We sat outside in the evening and it was beautifully lit up when it got darker. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and we were absolutely stuffed! They also have pet dogs which are clearly looked after and were a hit with us as we love dogs! Absolutely recommend this restaurant. It's very reasonably priced too!
We can go in the Sports bar any time and they will find your Sport, Rugby, football, Golf,Darts anything that is on,,They have 8 Tv's .They also do Great Food, also Takeaway,,The mixed grill is especially good,,also the Fish & Chips.

A village restaurant in Dherynia in a walled garden popular with locals and tourist who can find it. Excellent food.
The Fernagin Tavern is not known to most tourists who frequent the area but is very popular with locals and those in the know.A traditional Greek taverna feel with all Greek dishes covered on the menu.An excellent location for a summer evening in a walled garden in Dyrenia.Service a bit slow as it gets busy but on a relaxed evening with wine and a live Greek band playing you tend to accept this and enjoy the slow pace of life.Well worth a visit.

What an absolute gem, not only did the food cooking smell amazing from the road side the taste was fantastic too.The staff are very friendly and honest, not the fastest service but who cares when the food is that good. Best meal so far in Cyprus.only gutted that we didn't get chance to try the Kleftiko as there was no meat good enough to serve.Definitely recommend and we shall return.

Cafe - Restaurant on Pernera beach Path to Protaras
We came across the Canes whilst out walking the lovely boardwalk between Protaras & Pernera. The first time we just stopped for drinks (Leon & a gorgeous ice cream frappe) but decided that the place was so lovely that we would return for lunch another time. There are lots of different seating zones to the place so you can chill out on a comfy seat or sofa and relax with a drink watching the sea or sit at a table and eat a meal. The first time we visited was a local bank holiday so it was a joy to see local families enjoy their time together. There's a kiddies play area and ice cream parlor too! Facilities were clean. We would definitely return to Canes next time we visit the area!
