The food of Cyprus has much in common with Greek and Turkish cuisines, with the characteristic qualities of the Mediterranean diet. Mr Evgenios Klindtwort-Perikleous and his business partner, Mr Nikolas Stefanou, have been serving the region authentic Cypriot cuisine for the past 16 years. As of today, they are the only Cypriot restaurant in Rheinland-Pfalz. We were a group of thirteen, and our culinary journey through Cyprus began with a selection of ten different cold appetizers (highlights include âTaramasâ, âDolmadakiaâ, âTirosalataâ, âMeltzanosalataâ and âSkordaliaâ), followed by two warm appetizers â âKolokithakia me Augaâ (Zucchini Omelet) and âManitarakia Krasataâ (fresh mushrooms in a wine-based sauce). Mr Klindtwort and his team made sure our bread basket was topped up with fresh flatbread throughout.Up next are four types grilled and pan-fried specialties, including Cypriot Haloumi (grilled and spiced soft sheepâs cheese). Then came a combination of 2-3 types of fish, marinated, wrapped in aluminum foil and grilled to perfection. The main course was a choice of either meat or seafood. The meat option consisted of âKleftikoâ, âSheftaliaâ and âPagithakiaâ. Included in the seafood Meze were grilled octopus, seabass and king prawns. Mr Klindtwort and his team are truly generous with their portions â by the time the main course arrived, most of us were too full to continue eating!As the saying goes, âthereâs always room for dessert!â â somehow, we managed to find room in our tummies for the traditional dessert âGalataktobourekoâ â creamy custard in crispy phyllo sheets, served with a side of vanilla ice cream.At the end of the feast, we were practically clamouring for some ouzo to ease our tummies. We thoroughly enjoyed our first encounter with Cypriot food at Restaurant Aphrodite. Tip: In case you do order a Meze here, bring time and an appetite, because a great Meze comprises at least 20 dishes â it took us all evening to polish everything off!

I wouldn't expect such a good Greek restaurant in a small town in Germany, but this one made me believe that miracles happen. Beautiful clean interior, very friendly and helping staff, authentic delicious food - all together it was an amazing dinner.

Es gibt genug positive Bewertungen umso mehr habe ich mich gewundert das es überhaupt nicht unser Fall war. Salat wie bei fast jeden Griechen mit fertig Dressing angemacht. Die Vorspeise - Peperoni wurden übergossen mit einer SoÃe Hollandaise mit Kräutern und Knobi drin.Als wird erwähnten das uns die Kombi Peperoni mit KäsesoÃe (bei anderen Griechen ist dies immer die KäsesoÃe) nicht zusagt meinte man schnippisch : Das ist keine Käse sondern KnoblauchsoÃe. Letztendlich ist es die SoÃe Hollandaise die jeder Grieche bei uns im Umkreis als KäsesoÃe verkauft und nur weil man Kräuter und Knobi reindrückt ist das für mich noch lange keine Knobi SoÃe. Lange Rede kurzer Sinn : Auf Fleisch ,mag ich sie ja. Dachte dann habe ich wenigstens zur Hauptspeise meine Richtige soÃe. Mein Bekannter mag diese SoÃe auch zu Fleisch und hat deswegen Gyros mit KäsesoÃe bestellt. Leider war die KäsesoÃe zum Fleisch alles andere als gut, es war eine komplett andere . Niemand am Tisch hat sie gemocht. Ich hatte noch Glück da ich Sie extra bestellt hatte aber bei meinem Bekannten war die SoÃe über dem ganzen Fleisch. Er hat deswegen fast nichts gegessen . Leider war man hier so unaufmerksam das man ohne Worte den fast noch vollen Teller mitgenommen hat. Griechische Nachspeisen hatte ich auch nicht auf der Karte gesehen. Statt dessen verkauft man hier als Dessert Eisbecher mit gekauften Eis.
