Reviews on German food in Rugen Island, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, Germany. Welcome to Germany's largest island, with a myriad of terrains to delight outdoor explorers, from sandy coastlines to dramatic chalk cliffs. It's been a seaside resort since 1818 and is one of Germany's top vacation spots. There's something for everyone, from the two national parks to a former royal residence and a castle to the beach, of course - head to Binz if sunbathing is your primary objective.

Firstly, the atmosphere is very cool. Eating at this place is an experience. It's very cute and the put a lot of attention to detail. Service is also great. The food is good too, but in my opinion it isn't great. Definitely don't order salads. The steaks are huge (more than 400g) and tasty. But it's also a bit on the pricier side.

Following recommendations on TripAdvisor we were lucky to get a table in Weltenbummler on a crowded Saturday evening. As they claim to have excellent steaks, we both tried the beef filet. And indeed the meat was cooked exactly as ordered, side dishes were good and the price was ok.The waitress brought the wrong bottle of wine (âIt was the only one I could findâ) and one of our two steaks was plain cold. Unfortunately we didnât see any waiter after the food was brought to our table, so I resorted to eating the cold steak. A compliment to the chef as even in that state the steak was still very good. We finished the main course, I told the waitress that the meat was cold, which was received with an âohâ and sat there for 30 more minutes, unable to order dessert. When another guest on the next table went to fetch a waiter, everybody around us started to pay and we joined in, afraid of the waiting time for more food.Overall, food is very good, service is friendly but lacking, at least on crowded evenings.Sorry about that!! We hope you join us again and than we serve it hot!! Sorry and see you soon! Sebastian
Top 10 Central European food in Harrislee, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany

The positive; Daheim seems to be a family-run restautant that is always sympathetic. However, on busy Sunday evening it took nearly an hour to get the meal and also otherwise the service was not very attentive. The dishes were also disappointing. The schitzel had a thick bread laminate on a woody pork cutlet with no taste at all. The fish soup had a lot of ingredients but in all was bowl of no taste. Quantity over quality.

We sat outside, the terrace has a view to the Ostsee. The dish ( duet of fish) was nicely decorated, the service was good.

The four of us visited for a meal and were delighted with the location, right by the water. A bit slow in taking the order but when we eventually got served the food was of good quality. One of us had the sour herring meal and that was probably 6 out of 10, the other 3, we all had the burger meals. Two of us were pleased, but the other in our party having paid 2.50 euros extra was not really impressed as there was no obvious gain in paying the extra. Burgers were a little dry too. OK, but there are better places to eat in Schaprode.

Having been to many Michelin Star restaurants we had to try this one. We ordered the 7 course. I am a pescatarian and they had no trouble adjusting my dishes. All were quite innovative and tasty. I was already so full by the 4th course. Very good service too. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Small and cosy place with a naval touch. Not too many tables, very busy even in off season therefore a reservation is highly recommended.Very friendly welcome by the owner couple who obviously love their job with passion. Now for the food:Appetizer was very tasty and well crafted.Homemade soup was with a lot of ingredients and very well seasoned. Highly recommended!Main courses - fish or meat - were both excellent and the sides were very tasty too. The host shows the product before preparing it to you, which proves the quality of fish and meat.I can only recommend this place - go there when you are in the area!

This fish restaurant was very good. The menu includes typical German as well as international dishes. All were very tasty. The portions were adequate for us, but might not be enough for more hungry people; I recommend ordering an appetizer. The value-for-money could therefore be improved. The service was exceedingly friendly and very casual. The restaurant belongs to the Hotel "Deutsche Flagge" (see corresponding review here on tripadvisor). However, one can enter it without passing through the hotel, and so it does not have the feel of a hotel-restaurant.
