We selected this restaurant due to the TA rating, made a reservation for 20:30.We arrived and, without any warm welcome, received the worst table, without a view.The female owner informed us about the food selection while her husband was sitting outside, eating a delivered Pizza out of the carton. The selection was small, very small, two different soups and two different main courses. We selected one soup with dumpling and one with barley as well as one main course with sausage and one with smokes meat.The taste of the two soups was both okay, pretty standard - but my girlfriend got a little extra: a hair in her soup. The main courses were a complete joke, two thin slices of smokes meat and one sausage, together with a lot of sauerkraut - and no other garnish. When we finished the plates were cleared and they started to clean the kitchen. While other guests received some attention we were just forgotten for about 20 minutes, until I asked for the bill (which also took a while since she was serving other guests dessert and her husband talking to a young guy).We didn't feel welcome at all, the complete service was without any emotion. Come, eat & go.While we were eating we observed the hygiene in this restaurant - and were shocked. The family arrives back to the kitchen from their Pizza dinner outside - without washing their hand. Also the female owner - between serving - is cleaning tables, bringing out rubbish, and goes on serving without washing hands. Due to this observation we were skipping our dessert which we then had downtown Merano.Really, I can't understand all the reviews about this restaurant. Food is bad, portions are small, service is unfriendly and the hygiene basically not existing. During our 2.5 week trip through Europe this was by far the worst dinner we had.

We had lunch in this restaurant after visiting the Schenna Castle.It was a warm October, and we enjoyed the nice food and very good beers! We came back for evening dinner, and the view of the mountains were just great! The coffees and desserts were excellent and excellent service!

This place was the best of all worlds on the warm summer evenings we spent in Merano. Located right along the Passer Promenade along the river, diners can sit outside while enjoying fine meals and river views. Service and food were excellent, and the ability to get a nice evening meal before the little one's bedtime was definitely a plus for us.

Wenn man die Möglichkeit hat, muss man vorbei schauen. Das Knödelglück ist wirklich ein tolles Restaurant. Man schmeckt richtig, dass frisch und mit Liebe gekocht wird. Das Ambiente ist wirklich einzigartig. Wir haben einen wunderschönen Tag erwischt und die Aussicht mit einem Glas Wein auf der Sonnenterrasse genossen. Der Service ist ausgezeichnet, Wein und Veneziano tip top, das Essen, wie schon erwähnt ausgesprochen lecker. Die Portionen sind zwar nicht übertrieben groÃ, allerdings ausreichend und es soll ja auch noch Platz für den Nachtisch bleiben .

Seemingly hundreds of people sinking vast amounts of Forst beer from across the road to accompany the good plain Tirolean food. It's dusty, it's noisy and no place to wear your best clothes but great fun especially when there is live music

Restaurant close to the brewery has a big and well attended terrace. They have a good beer, varied and affordable wine card and rather extensive menu. Food is very Austrian, with a lot of meat. It's okay but not very special and not very cheap. Staff is efficient but they missed the personal touch. Food was there, shortly after we ordered it. At the end of the dinner the waiter offered a drink from the house. Good parking facilities.

The restaurant is situated on top of a mountain. The view in front is marvelous. The interior is very nice too. The restaurant serves local cuisine. I have been there several times and have never been disappointed. The service is very friendly and efficient too. I am quite often in this region. Beside the luferkeller in riffian this is my favorite place around Meran.

This place serves decent food in an authentic Tyrolean setting. It is, however, quite expensive for what it is.....a glass of wine costs double what you would normally pay in a smart bar.The answer is probably that the restaurant is located off the busiest shopping street and is a perfect tourist trap. I noticed that lots of tables were 'reserved' but in reality they were not.....the waiter just picked up the sign and asked us to seat ourselves.The next time I am in Merano it is unlikely I would eat here again unless there were no other options for some odd reason

A welcome place from the bustling and touristic via Portici. The spaghetti (al dente!) and the mussels (cozze) were delicious, also the tomato, feta (with some other ingredients) salad was nicely presented and prepared! Service was courteous and friendly! - a very positive surprise were the washrooms/toilets!

During our return to Merano in 2019 Forsterbrau restaurant once again played a key role in our great time that we had. Visiting and eating in the restaurant is all around great experience. Service is excellent. All staff move around like well oiled machine, yet machine with a nice human touch and care.The food here is spot on. God combination of the classic Tyrolean and Italian cuisine, always with a slight twist as the seasonal ingredience allow. However all we tasted here was VERY GOOD. Can't wait to visit some time in the future. Sure there wil be next time.
