Reviews on German food in La Colonia Tovar, Central Region, Venezuela. Colonia Tovar (English: Tovar Colony) is a town of Venezuela, capital of the municipality Tovar in Aragua state. Founded in 1843 by a group of immigrants from the then independent state of the Grand Duchy of Baden (later incorporated into Germany), it is characterized by the maintenance of the cultural imprint of their origin, so it is called "the Germany of the Caribbean". The economy depends primarily on agriculture and tourism; and the town is located 42 km (26 mi) from Caracas. The Colonia is known for its temperate crops (peaches, strawberries, beets, cauliflower, carrots, cabbage, chard, broccoli, lettuce, onions and potatoes) and their derivatives. Since 1990 it has shown a high rate of population growth, rising from 3,373 to 21,000 inhabitants in 2016.

Can{t miss if you are in la Colonia Tovar and its even worth the drive from caracas o Valencia. Amazinly rounded menu with all kinds of German and Mediterranean choices. Love the crispy Pork knucke (Rodilla de Cochino), excelent Tenderloin (lomito) with great house sauce, fresh salads, creams and soups, even seafood, cant go wrong. Homey but with Attention to detail in every way that makes it a great relaxed experience. Been coming here for many years and they have maintained their high standards in the quality of the food. Beatiful Alpine style Chalet, feels like a ski lodge. Full Bar and small wine menu, enogh to satisfy. Prices a re reasonable considering the portions and quality. A must try. Plan ahead, its always very busy

This café has everything for all hours: breakfast, lunch, dinner and the occasional hot cocoa. We always have breakfast there, when it's not included on our hotel rate. They have Venezuelas or Colonia Tovar's breakfasts. Venezuelan or "criollo" breakfast comes with eggs, shredded meat, black beans, sweet plantain slices, cheese deli meats, coffee or cocoa, and juice. We always choose the Colonia Tovar or German breakfast: eggs, deli meats, German and Polish sausages, coffee or cocoa, and juice. Don't leave Colonia Tovar without having a cup of hot chocolate (really thick and strong, as God intended) and a straberry tart.

The only thing that was kind of good was the food. The service isn't. You have to sit yourself and the waiters are a grippy all the time. We went two times and both times we were not properly seated until they saw us sit down and actually ordered something. It seemed that they didn't think we would order so they didn't even bother to treat us.
