I have found this restaurant by coincidence: I was looking for a restaurant in the town of Kehl close to France border when I went into this one asking for a menu in Spanish language. The woman told me they didn't have it but her husband could speak it because he had live in Tenerife Island, and that's how to started to chat with him in a very fluent Spanish. So I could met a very honest family who work very hard for a living and satisfy their customers. The menu is cheaper than the average of the zone, and if you go there you must taste their fondues. Cheese Fondue (Black Forest's Style) and Meal Fondue also known as Chinese Fondue. Both of them are amazing. Thank U Uta and "Ramón" for those fantastics meals.

This is a wonderful German beer garden restaurant which i love to visit, especially in full summer when their garden is absolutely beautiful, storks fly overhead and high quality beer can be enjoyed. Out with friends on our bike through the Rhine forests and lakes what a nice place to drop in. And they have a very nice menu that they can be proud of, delicious asparagus this week as I write, strawberries and ice cream when in season and a nice range of steaks, salads etc. It has kept its staff for the last 6-7 years that I have been visiting, always a good sign also.

Ever since the ownership changed a couple of years ago, this restaurant has been on a steep decline. Most of the menu has remained the same. The dishes are not quite the same as before (preparation, presentation...), but they are ok. But, the service is terrible! There is enough wait staff, but they are so disorganized and inefficient. Everyone at my table was served their starters, but "something" happened to mine. I didn't get mine until everyone had already finished theirs. The table next to us waited for nearly 30 minutes before they were even asked for their drink order. After another 15 minutes, they finally just left. It's a shame because the outside terrace has a very nice and cozy atmosphere. The grape vines growing over the terrace offer shade. In the winter, there is a room with a lit fire. It's also a shame because the owner seems nice and enthusiastic.

This restaurant was recommended by a local as the best German food. Each course was delicious and we had 3 courses. Our starters were 2 different soups and also snails. Then we each had scrumptious entrées followed by one shared dessert. The dessert was a delightful pomegranate tart with homemade whipped cream. The staff spoke English and helped us understand what we couldn't figure out on the menu. The entire meal was very reasonably priced and we would highly this restaurant.

The Hirsch is a family run hotel with a distinguished kitchen. We offer a great place to stay for those traveling to Strasbourg, the Alsace Region, the Black Forest or the Europa Park. We are situated in the great wine region Ortenau which allows our gues
Had a celebratory meal here and cannot fault it in anyway. The hotel rooms are spacious and the restaurants were full. The menu has a good variety of dishes and the waiters were charming. There is an amazing collection of cats in all the rooms.Hello Saltdeancatlovers, according to your Nickname I guess you liked our interior:)Thank you for your warm words and the time you took to write the review. It is a pleasure to serve when it is appreciated that much. We will share your feedback among our staff.Kind regards,Marc Needell

We have eaten here a few times over the past 3 years and our experiences have been very average. The food was ok, service was inconsistent, and the atmosphere was cold and "cafeteria- like". But lately, there has been a big improvement. The food is now quite delicious (new chef?), the service is better and the staff is friendly. The decor is also warm (the Christmas decorations were nice and festive), and you no longer feel like you are dining in a train station. With very few good restaurants in Kehl to choose from, it is nice that this restaurant has become more upscale and is an option to consider.

So far, we have never been disappointed when having lunch or dinner at the "Alte Zunft". It's very close to the center, yet very quiet. Inside all wood and very typical, outside terrace very pleasant when the sun shines. The food is delicious, sturdy, reliable. The salads are great. The sevice is always nice: a place to recommend!

Had passed this restaurant many a time and saw from its menu that it was somewhat different than sourrounding ones, including items such as lamb which can be rare enough in this region. Last week I went there with my wife. One could see from entry that the owners cared, quality of decoration, tables etc was given close thought and the people already eating there looked to have a quality of judgement in their desire to have a nice place to enjoy their food. The restaurant had a very large selection of wines, I ordered veal, which came with a nice salad and generous portions. My wife had the vegetarian. Service was very friendly and one was made to feel very welcome. The Polish lady who served our table informed us, on asking, that the restaurant was family managed for many years and great care was taking in only having the best ingredients. Very reasonably priced I look forward to my next visit, it seemed to have a nice beer garden out back but January not the time. When the sun brings me out on my bike I will be there.
