The place is located bang inside a park overlooking a beautiful lake filled with ducks. Quite picturesque. However the owner told us half of the items were off the menu as we need to tell in advance if we really wanted to order a dish that takes time to make. Food is typically German and the host too speaks only German. They also informed us that we need to request for a bill in advance as she needs to put the computer on and print the bill which takes time.

We have eaten at Sollingshöhe many times over the years. However, the last couple of visits really weren't up to the standard that we'd come to expect. I'm not sure what's going on, but I hope the Macke family will sort it out!On this occasion, we visited as a family of four on a Friday evening to enjoy 2x "Gambas Start" (all you can eat prawns and 2x A la Carte meals. Upon arrival, it took about ten minutes until our drinks order was taken. Then we were given a bread basket and some red pesto as a dip... and the big wait began. At least it wasn't just us. Neighboring tables had arrived and presumably ordered well before us, and there was no food in evidence anywhere. Eventually, ours arrived about 50 minutes into the visit. We could have done with drink refills at the very least... But no chance. Service was nonexistent. And how was the food? The majority of our prawns were overcooked and mushy. Some were fine, but of course you didn't know until you'd peeled them, and the mushy ones were really quite inedible. The seasoning was off: salt was lacking (in the past, the prawns were served with coarse sea salt on top) and the broth was very unrefined. I spotted garlic, lemon and chilli in it, but the balance was off. The aioli (garlic mayonnaise) was disappointing too. If I was a betting person, I'd bet it'd come straight from a jar. The other meals were fairly bland too: Schnitzel that was too thick and a kid's meal that was very much of the frozen-then-deep-fried variety. All in all, such a shame! I love this restaurant and sincerely hope it'll find its way back to culinary delights before too long.

Amazed to see the place so busy on a Monday evening. There were lots in the bar and several groups at tables. The waitresses coped well.
