I took my family here for a nice dinner during a recent visit. We went in the middle of the week, early in the evening. The place was pretty empty and didn't fill up for the rest of the evening. We were wondering how loud the it would become if it actually filled up with patrons, because the voices of the few people dining transported easily through the building. The building, as the images indicate, just provides a great atmosphere. It's simply lovely. The staff: there were about 4 or 5 people working in the open kitchen, you're encouraged to sit close to the window to the kitchen so you can watch them prep the food. It's quite an artisanal event, and by and large the kitchen staff know what they're doing, just sadly not when it came to my non-dish. I enjoyed watching them doing their thing. I find open kitchens reassuring of the quality and cleanliness of the product sold. Before I get to my own little disaster, though, let me mention that the waitresses were wonderful, superbly trained and very attentive... until it got just slightly busier, at which point we didn't see much of them. When I say slightly busier, that's what I mean, the place was still about 60% empty. Bit of a concern. The menu is easy as well as complex, you have to order most things separately, unless you go for the tastings menu. Be warned, your bill adds up rather quickly. We didn't find the tastings menu appealing, so we (the three of us) ordered different things. One of us had fish, the other had steak, both mains were superb. Unfortunately, for the restaurant, this review is written by the vegetarian member of our party, and my meal was an unmitigated, expensive disaster. Whatever they had on their menu wasn't available so they came up with a fancy name for what were essentially artichoke hearts and mushrooms. They managed to prep them in such a way that the artichokes were tasteless, and consisted of probably two small artichoke hearts cut in quarters. They combined that with a soup-ladle size serving of mushroom and you had what the kitchen erroneously served as a main course. Truth be told, the main course, not just the artichokes, was tasteless. In the age of salt that's not an easy thing to achieve, but this kitchen managed. Talking about salt, I asked for a side of mashed potato. What I got was a side of salt laced with mashed potato. It became clear to me that in this kitchen nobody actually checks the taste of the meal before they send it out. So, while a significant effort was invested in putting lipstick on this pig, at the end of the day, it was a pig, a tasteless and expensive one at that. My advice to you: If you consider visiting here and you have vegetarians among your party, give it a miss. If you have no vegetarians in your party, go for it. It's expensive for what it is, but the fish, steak and side dishes (well, most of them, just not the one I had, the salt with mashed potato) were well worth the trip out here. The other two members in my party did enjoy their meals and the atmosphere, genuinely. A clear case of Let the Buyer Beware.

Finger weg.

My mother came to visit from Canada and I had to take her to the Bavarian Alm to try some nice Bavarian meals. It is such a nice atmosphere, especially with the wooden tables, in a wooden building and a huge fireplace in the middle. Our waiter was hilarious as he tried to speak English and he had a good laugh about it too. If you read my last review then nothing much has changed, still think this is a good place to come to and try something new.Hello Matthew, thank you for the feedback. We´re glad that you and your mother have a nice visit. Best, your Bavaria Alm-Team

I have to raise my hands up, thumbs up and everything for this restaurant. We had dinner here with our 2 year old niece, waitress most accommodating I have experienced ever, people looked not so happy with a toddler visiting here even tough she was 100% ell behaved, hostess, waitress and owner made it an awesome experience to bring a child to dinner. PERFECT SERVICE!Also, about dinner, where do I start??. Cuts were incredible, right on point.I also had the calamaris, totally recommended!. My niece has the typical schnitzel, also a winner!!!Also I loved how fancy it looked and at the same time normal.Go there!

We have eaten at the Park Restaurant several times and recently tried the Karousell Menu which was superb!!The ambient is very classy, the service attentive and freindly, the choice of wines, if not extensive, quite good.We have also had the Sunday Afternoon 'Bergische Kaffetafel' with the whole family which was an interesting mixture of sweet and savoury items with coffee. The restaurant has progressed to being the best in the town at the moment.

We offer the most authentic Street Food from Germany's Ruhr Area: the Currywurst! Serving fresh and local sausages with hot currysauce since 1994 .

Many say it's the best Currywurst, even in the whole of Germany: The Bratwursthaus Currywurst is crisp, savoury and super delicious. It doesn't matter whether as a small snack or a full meal; the rich selection of homemade sauces in combination with the t
I was so excited to find this place while I was in Bochum - I ate there 2 times in 2 days - because the Currywurst was so good. The area is known for their Currywurst and this place - Bratwursthaus - is known for doing it well. It is a great walk-up food spot with tables to stand at outside and enjoy the fervor of the Bochum Triangle as you enjoy some Currywurst. I went for the Currywurst plate both times. If you are in Bochum or live in Bochum, this place is a must try!

Why I have not reviewed this venue before I cannot explain - perhaps because it is so 'chic' that it is out of the normal for holiday visitors and a secret for the locals, but again this vist was exceptionally good. Beware, it is not cheap - indeed some may find it over the top for the size of the plates served, but there was plenty to add to the main item - my first course was shrimps in a Pernod Sauce -simply WOW. For the main I took a chance. I have seem Loach being thrown back by my fishing friends in England and never on a menu - indeed we had to look up the English to translate to Loach. Needless to say I will try and introduce it to my friends the next time we are in town - it was superbly cooked and presented. The venue oozes class, and the service was not only polite, but with a friendly twist which left me feeling very welcome and able to ask 'silly' questions of the menu - something which sometimes can be a little embarrassing. Please save up and try Elsasser Stube (with or without the 'umlaut')
