Things to do in Hechingen
We stepped in at a sunny afternoon - first time since it turned into an Italian restaurant - and found a very friendly service and a very nice place to sit outside. We weren't looking for something "haute cuisine", rather for a real good Pizza (or Pasta) and were served one of the best in the region we had in the past years. After a walk in the very nice city of Hechingen and a visit of the the impressive Castle Hohenzollern a great place for having excellent Pizza.
Since we live around the corner, we went to eat in this restaurant many times. There are different buffet selections, brunch events and of course the regular menu. Most meals are regional and of excellent quality. The food was always very tasty and fresh and well prepared and the value is simply great. The restaurant seems to be mostly family run with a very friendly and fast service. We definitely recommend it.

While the restaurant is away from all main traffic routes, its food is very good and the self-made lemonades (very interesting flavours) are great. While we've only been there in the evening, I think it's better to reserve a table if you plan to visit on the weekend!

Great day outdoor seating and a fresh breeze. Wait staff was super helpful and spoke English. Ordered the venison which was served over root vegetables with a subtle raspberry/yogurt flavor over the meat gravy. the meal included some waffled potatoes and fresh home-made bread. Washed down with a local weiess beer and the result was astounding.
I've been visiting this place on a business trip and I found a very kind and professional welcome. In 3 days in town, I've been here 3 times!!! Highly suggested for a typical dinner or for having some beers and schnapps! Well done, keep going this way guys Thank you sooo much! Always welcome again!

I stayed in this hotel for business reasons a minimum of 2 weeks per month from January to June 2016. I had dinner here at least 3 times per week, each week. Letâs call that insider knowledge. This is a typical German Gästehaus, clean, functional, no fancy, and decent prices. Itâs managed by 2 generations of the same family. The younger generation is smiling⦠Only problem of this hotel is noise insulation. When the hotel is busy, you can expect a quiet sleep only from 10:30pm to 5:30am. Until the kitchen on ground floor is still working or the last guest is back in his room, and as soon as someone will use the rest-rooms or take a shower, youâre done. But this varies depending on the rooms. Besides, the hotel has been partly renovated only; the left aisle above the dining rooms, is still somewhat shabby. The combination of uneven noise insulation and more or less refreshed room makes that not all rooms are equal. The best rooms are numbers 210, 211, 219, 220, and the best of all is 212, which has been renovated with good taste and is quiet. You can try rooms 101 and 304 as well, not bad, though 304 has no shutters, only curtains which are not efficient against morning light, and no water pressure for the shower. On the contrary, avoid by all means rooms 206 and 207, globally all rooms above the dining rooms, and the single rooms with a small bed (90 cm wide) which are depressing. There is free Wi-Fi everywhere, though signal is very weak in some rooms. The food is very good, one of the only 3 places where you can decently eat in this region. Breakfast is good as well, but German style only, meaning a big choice of proteins, but no sweeties except some mini-croissants. Waiters and waitresses are very friendly and professional, specially the plump lady who cares about breakfast. So, being a frequent guest, you would guess that I had a special treatment. I did, but not as expected: when the hotel was packed in April and May, the owners systematically put me in their worse rooms (see above). Thatâs when I decided to leave and go somewhere else.

I gather this is where the locals go for a special occasion meal. The waitress was a little impatient when we asked what beer they had which didn't taste too bitter. When it was served it was too bitter for our taste. Rather than trying to find a salutation the beer was just taken away without so much of an apology. The salad that came with the Spaetzle was dripping in dressing, too much for my liking. The Spaetzle themselves were nice. As was the fish with asparagus and potatoes. The portions were too big for us to consider desert.

Great food lot's to choose from, well prepared and good quality. Plates were very large portions good and friendly staff as well. English menu's and speakers and good atmosphere.
