We had dinner at Braunhoferâs following a friendâs suggestion. We tried different types of meet (deer, mixed grill, chicken) and their carrotsâ soup, everything was really delicious. First choice Austrian ingredients, traditionally cooked and served with a smile. Make sure to reserve a table before going.

Let yourself be enchanted by the Hotel Stegerbräuâs traditional flair, with a tasty modern twist. Step into these tasteful premises which radiate cosiness and a welcoming atmosphere. The attention to detail underlines the rural-rustic ambience of the vene
Staying locally in a chalet just outside Radstadt and visited this restaurant for dinner one evening. Lovely old hotel/restaurant with typical Austrian atmosphere. The waiter was very friendly and English was no problem as he specifically gave us an English menu. There own stegerbrau beer is very good. I had half a fried chicken with a salad. Plenty of food. The apple strudel was particularly good as a dessert. Value for money was also good as the bill was about 20 euros per head. Well worth a visit.

Looking forward soon to going back to the Burgerbergalm - a wonderful dark, wooden, warm comfortable place on the slopes above Radstadt, I've been in swisher, flashier places but this one sits very easily in my favourite places to sit and eat and just be. You can find better everythings elsewhere but that doesn't matter...... I can breathe, watch the mountains, eat and drink.......
Al right, ladiese and gentlemen, I'm back form another trip and would like you to know about what I did. Target: Bachlalm, Filzmoos, Austria. Reason: Here be Groundhogs. Method of ascent: Start walk at Parking lot right at the end of Salzburg. The area is called Hachau but you can't miss the signs for Bachlalm to your left when coming from Filzmoos. It's right before the "Border" to Styria. Should you see a green heart sign, you passed by. Then, walk up the way. you can't miss the path, and you'll see up to massive Dachstein massive (sorry) if it's not clouded.Following an ascent of about an hour an ten to thirty, depending on your own abilities and how motivating life groundhogs are for your children, you reach an area where the tarmac road turns into a gravel path. The Groundhogs live to the right of you, Bachlalm is to your left. Obviously, with kids, you need to go see the Groundhogs (referred to by Austrians as "Mankei" instead of German "Murmeltier"). they are used to being fed and don't object to pictures, but they do object to dogs and hasty movements, so be sure to avoid either. The whole alpine pasture is an ideal playground for kids up to, hm, 12ish? years and if they don't bump into the occasional cow, you can leave them there to play at a small brook, between boulders and alpine flowers. You can jog up the final five muinutes to bachlalm, get some food and drinks in and enjoy the peace while you can. The view is spectacular with peaks of mountains such as Mitterspitz, Hoher Dachstein, Koppenkarstein all in view to the right of the hut, plus the dominating Rötelstein showing his red face slightly to the left. Should you choose to hike up higher, consult your landlord and personal at the hut about weather changes and routes. Those helicopters cost a dang fortune and you never know what happens further up, this being serious alpine territory. As for the way down, return as you went or pick one of two routes that lead you down straight into Filzmoos in something less then 2 hours. NöÃlerriedl and Filzwiese are both well marked ways offering picturesque sights. Think ahead, though, as someone will have to get the car from down at the other end. Or start in Filzmoos altogether, that's just as well. Conclusio: Worth a trip for the groundhogs and the views.

We happened to pass by this restaurant and were hungry so stopped to eat there. The service was extremely friendly & the food was superb. The Ribs were delicious and other choices were great as well. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for local eating experience!

we visited " Schoergi - Alm " on December 29, 2015... you reach SCHOERGI by taking the Gondola up the mountain, which is a wonderful experience with great views. Once you are up there you will see many Skiers getting ready to go downhill. Schoergi - Alm is located right next to it, they have an outside sun-terrace, where you can sit , soak up the warm sun, have a meal or just a Cappuccino as we did. From here you can watch the Hot Air Balloons and the Gross Glockner Mountain range.Don't miss it when you visit this area it's worth it. The Service is efficient too.

My husband and I celebrated our 60th birthday at this quaint restaurant on the mountain. We planned the occasion from our home in South Africa and the evening exceeded our expectations. From the time we were fetched and transported to Sonnenalm we were welcomed as if we were family. Service, incredible food, fun and laughter together with their hospitality made for an evening we will never forget. Each morsel of food was so evidently lovingly prepared and presented. Homemade schnapps, handcrafted puzzle type games, chatting to the family and traditional music added to the magic of the evening. From the bottom of our hearts thank you for everything. We will dream of the day we can return.

We have been to Fiakerwirt many times and always return when we are in Filzmoos. It has a fantastic traditional atmosphere. On one occasion, we were even treated to local people singing and playing their harmonicas. Their passion for their horses is in abundance and their dogs often come to greet you. The food is traditionally Austria and is served in generous portions. They also offer horse-drawn sleigh rides to other traditional Austrian mountain hut restaurants through the woods, returning to Fiakerwirt with a much needed schnapps.

The Oberhofalm is at the top of the scenic road from Filzmoos. You are surrounded by rocky peaks. You can get up, even in winter, by car (with great snow tires), by horse drawn carriage, or on foot. We walked and the hike made us ready to eat! The food is wonderful, especially the grilled sausage plate with smashed potatoes and sauerkraut. It was busy when we arrived but quieted by the time we were finished. I only put 4 stars because our server (who is one of the owners) didn't seem all that interested nor attentive. The food was great as were the drinks (hot chocolate with rum and an after-meal schnapps).
