We decided not to eat on our ship and walk into town to find some authentic German food. We were seated promptly by a window overlooking the river. Service was friendly but spotty likely due to our lack of German . Food was good. I was surprised by the potato dumplings. Tasty but unusual consistency.

We didn't really like this town because it was nothing but one touristy restaurant after another, but we were in a hurry and didn't have much time to go somewhere else, so we ended up at Zum Alten Stadttor after reading some good reviews on TripAdvisor. After taking our order the waiter came back to say they had run out of sausages (at 6PM in a German restaurant?) so we had to share whatever was left. My husband's salad contained a very long black hair, which obviously belonged to the lady that was preparing the meals. After that, our appetite was gone and we left.

Superb. Each dish is prepared with immaculate detail, with freshest ingredients mostly from local sources. They are most accommodating for special diets for example vegetarians can be accommodated on most menu items (not sure about Vegan standards). The staff is very knowledgeable, prompt, and ready to supply helpful suggestions on the meal or wine selection. They have an intimate back room that is very cozy for couples. The outdoor dining is simple but well appointed. Highly Recommended.

Close to the main Mosel road, but also a fair walk (4km) downhill through the forest from the Roompot holiday village, you can find (yes, you'll have to search just a little) this authentic place. Ideal for a small winefarmer lunch based on regiak ingredients and recepes. Enoy that with some wine and you'll be happy to have spent some quality at very acceptable prices in a relaxing atmosphere.

We arrived past 8 o'clock in the evening and we're tired and hungry. Frau Wagner recommended us the restaurant and it was quite a nice surprise. Nice view over the Mosel, romantic ambiance. Delicious German food and nice wine (sweet red wine and very sweet dessert wine). Not very detailed menu, but that was not necessary. Lovely waitress who also tried to speak English and was patient when we tried speaking German. It was not cheap but also not that expensive (70â¬, 1 course, wine and water)

This is a really nice restaurant with a small terrace offering traditional food and perfect local wine. Absolutely friendly service.

Beautiful outside eating. Very busy, only 2 servers. Our food presentation was lovely but the food lukewarm. They were so busy and overworked so everything moved slow which is ok when hot food is still hot. I would certainly try it here again tho, could have been a one off.

"Zum Kaffeeklatsch" is the restaurant connected to "Gastehaus Am Calmont" further down the "Moselweinstrasse". (actually at house number 83), but is a separate establishment facing the Moselle. As in Cochem, several restaurants vie for customers with offers of good food, wine and cold beer. We chose "Zum Kaffeeklatsch, because of the offer of an attractive plaice dish and a cosy table in the shadow of a sun umbrella. Despite the fact that the terrace became very crowded later on (almost irritating crowded), we enjoyed our lunch; the food was well cooked and the service was attentive. I think you can't go wrong with "Zum Kaffeklatsch", even more outside the holiday rush.

On a recent holiday in Ediger, we visited this restaurant, as it was recommended on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed. The weather was lovely and we sat outside on the terrace. It was busy, but staff were very attentive, and there was a nice friendly atmosphere. I had smoked trout, which was delicious and the others had pork steaks, which were really tender and tasty. We enjoyed it so much that we went back twice. The second time, there was no room on the terrace so we sat downstairs in the cellar, but that was a nice experience too. You need to book a table on the terrace, or go early.

We fancied a change and joined the barbecue at Springiersbacher Hof. Not quite sure of how it would work (and not having the German linguistic skills to work it out) but our friendly hosts explained you selected your salads then the meat chosen was taken to the barbeque and cooked for you. The marinated meat was delicious and not burnt to a crisp as can so often happen with barbecued food. There was plenty of variety with the salads and it was okay to return to the salad bar as often as you wanted. Lovely atmosphere, great wine list from their own winery. It was not expensive and we weren't rushed away after our meal, we were told that the table was ours for the evening. Finished off with a local gin made on the premises, excellent evening with very friendly staff who made us feel really welcome.
