Things to do in Eckernforde

The fish is nice and seems to be fresh. The pizza comtes with much too much cheese. Nice beer. Cosy place with many local people. Not very big so it may be full at dinner time. Children friendly. Is in the pedestrian zone.

We recently attended a luncheon event at the Siegfried Werft for a large group (30+ people). It was very clear that the management is unable to handle such a large group. The wait for food was approximately 1 1/2 hours past the agreed upon time, even though the food was to be served family style and was ordered in advance. The amount of food served was inconsistent among the tables. At our table, I managed to get one piece of cauliflower and one piece of broccoli from the vegetable dish. There was no refill, at least at our table. Both meat and fish were served. I heard that the meat was average, but only one of the three types of fish I had was properly cooked, most being overdone and dry. Potatoes were good. The service was variable; more servers should have been dedicated to our group. The servers were also not overly friendly. There was no language issue because the group was predominantly German with a couple of Americans as myself who can speak and understand German. Overall the quality of the food was average, and I left the restaurant still hungry.Another major issue was their lack of attention to the several vegetarians who were present. The hosts had discussed with the management beforehand that there would be vegetarians in the group. The plan was for the vegetarians to be able to choose from the menu. There was no effort made to give menus to the vegetarians during the 1 1/2 hour wait, and the menus only finally arrived at the same time as the rest of the food was being served, so to order from the menu would have required even more time for the food to be prepared and the meal would have been over. The servers appeared oblivious to the needs of the vegetarians and had to be repeatedly asked for vegetarian food. One server curtly said that there was a salad for each person and that there were vegetables present on the table that they could eat. As stated above, there were insufficient vegetables to go around and the potatoes while good were cooked with bacon pieces. After most people were done eating, the servers finally brought out a few deep-fried mozzarella sticks with lettuce for the vegetarians.Having read some of the other reviews, it is possible that the food is of good quality for tables of two or four, but they are clearly not capable of handling a group. I would advise going elsewhere if one is planning an event in Eckenfoerde.

Delicious dinner and friendly staff! We stopped there by chance and did not regret it at all ! The restaurant was actually fully booked: we were asked if we would mind sharing a table for four with another couple. We ended the evening chatting with our neighbours and the table beside: all were sailors and had sailed to eckenforder like us in the afternoon. A very nice way to end the day !

We first stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant last year by pure chance when walking from Eckernfoerde. Going back to it one year later the restaurant still does not disappoint! It is quite a way out of town in what must have once been a quaint old farm house. Their soups are fantastic! But the mains and desserts are great as well. Fresh, young kitchen that offers an alternative to the 'traditional stodgy food' served in so many places. Prices are reasonable and the staff was really nice. Treib Gut is a good reason to get out of Eckernfoerde town. I can't wait to go back for more!

We had a Very Good and pleasant dinner in this restaurant. 3 chicken with french fri es, 1 grill teller, 1 roasted chicken with cro quettes. 2 dessert and 2 Coffee, 2 round of beer and cola. Every thing was perfect. Special mention to the managers that were Very Kind and gentle. The bill in line with expectations. Highly recommended.

Book a table or risk being disappointed! This place in the heart of old Eckernforde is tiny and was absolutely packed when we got there at 7:30pm. Our table was waiting with its reserved sign, thank goodness! Try this very popular place for its great, buzzy atmosphere. It's a pub, really, with a limited menu. Though in a fishing port, it isn't a fish restaurant. There was just one type of fish (chilled herring). Also no white meat options. Nevertheless, the food tasted delicious - steaks perfectly cooked. It was great fun to sit and watch all the activity in such a popular place. Waitress was delightful and juggling everything with a smile. Not surprising this is such a popular local as it oozes character. Cash only. And no desserts. Finish with a potent raspberry schnapps instead!

Had an excellent meal here one evening during my stay in Eckernfoerde for a conference. The restaurant is on the little main square and has a very traditional feel. Everything we ordered was excellent...soups, fish, chicken and desserts. Service was efficient and friendly. Highly recommended.

We were very happy to come back to Eckernförde and enjoy a wonderful lunch. We have lots of special memories of this restaurant and we have visited it almost in every trip to Eckernförde at the Baltic see since around 20 years. This restaurant has been transformed a lot. Kitchen was alway great, but now the menu is wonderful. We have found the classical food from the Baltic see, but several other very tasty new dishes. And the service is also marvelous. We are sure we will come back in our next visit! I just would like to recommend you to reserve your table on time.

We were looking for a place where the famous Eckernfoerde "Fischbroetchen" were served. We came to the Fischbroetchen-Manufaktur and indeed here you will get a highlight of this delicacy. Hiring served in a warm bun with lettuce and a light sauce, onions of your choice. We came from DK where Fischbroetchen are virtually unavailable and can only recommend this place very much.
