Find out what German restaurants to try in Dortmund. Dortmund has become a center of high-tech industry, but back in the day, it was one of Germany's first brewing centers, and Dortmunder beer is definitely worth tasting in a local bar. Visit the Reinoldkirche or the Marienkirche, or venture south of town to the ruins of Hohensyburg Castle. December is an especially festive time to visit Dortmund—one of Germany's biggest Christmas markets takes over the center of town.

We met here with a few friends on a saturday evening, a few weeks after the opening. The atmosphere was cosy and the place not overly busy. At 7pm we managed to find a table for 5 without problems. The deco is 'industrial chic', which I really like: high ceiling, wood and metal. We had a few drinks and 4 of us also ordered food. The menu is interesting, not the usual german grub, although of course Schnitzel is available, and why not, if you really crave it. We ordered a risotto with tempura vegetables, tagliatelle with pesto and cherry tomatoes, a tatar, and a beef salad. The orders didn't take too long, or at least it didn't feel like. It was all well presented (except maybe the tatar, which could have have had a bit more in terms of sides, more than one mushroom and the bread that they initially forgot!) everything was tasty though, the pasta not overcooked, the tempura veggies maybe not the perfect match for the risotto, but all together we were all quite happy. Service was friendly, and we had a really good night. I would not hesitate to go back (and I don't care who the place belongs to...)

There was once a farm here, but then came the industrial age, and the Zollern mineshaft was dug at this spot. This period also came and went, leaving an impressive industrial monument and, next to it, the old stable of the original farm. The place offers
This is a really interesting location (within an old & as museum restored 'Zeche') that offers drinks and snacks, but can as well be rented for bigger events like weddings etc. ... outdoor seating & kids playground are offered as well. The service, food and infrastructure for the event I've attended was just great. Staff was very attentive and helpful and everything (incl. the 'animated' part of the eve) went very smoothly and satisfying for everybody.

So last time in town I was told that I had to try currywurst. Honestly I was not impressed. However I decided to try it again and I am glad that I did. I heard that this stand is the best and while there was a bit of a line, I decided to wait in it. I am glad that I did! I really enjoyed my currywurst and Pommes. Everyone that works here is so nice and friendly. They took good care of me. Might have to go one more time while I am in town.

We organised our daughters first Birthday here and what a service! Child friendly great atmosphere. Afterwards we had our dinner with a great German Kitchen! A real place where they know what Hospitality should look like.

Visited here on an overnight stay in Dortmund. They cater for tourists by having English menus available. Price are a bit on the steep side but then again you get what you pay for. I had steak and couldnât fault any part of it. Service is prompt and waiters speak pretty good English too. I would definitely try some of the other items on my next visit.

We walked into this place and I recognized the name from TripAdvisor. We had a good dinner. And the location with room for the kids to play on the square is great!

The famous Hovel beer is available across most of the city and this it the restaurant of the brewery (I think?) and itâs about as German as it gets with great beers and a lovely menu. Had the Pork last time and that blew me away so this time the Snitzchel. Loads of tables, good service, very reasonably priced, busy in the middle of the afternoon and for good reason! Hello. thank you for your review. we are happy that you liked our Restaurant and you are welcome back anytime your in Dortmund again. All the best from the Hövels team.

Having been to Dortmund 3 times recently, this is always a place to met friends thanks mainly to the location being in the main square of the old town. Always busy and good service they are well adverse to dealing with large crowds. Good selection of specials for the beers

Welcome to our little atelier - #DerSchneider and his team are excited to meet you! You might have wondered why we're called "Der Schneider" (the tailor)? Well, since there's a tailor in it - namely our chef de cuisine Phillip Schneider - we might as well
We enjoyed the modern look, the service and the excellent food. I donât speak German but thankfully the restaurant had a menu in English and the servers spoke some English too. We had the three course meal which was accompanied by several amuse bouches. I particularly enjoyed the rabbit raghu. Our American credit cards didnât work with the table side credit card reader but the machine at the front desk did the trick.
