I remember the 'Zum Engel' from my days when I was a lot younger than today and the restaurant then was good for some stomach filling square meals or good for a 'Vesper' when they had freshly made liver pate on offer.Today has the ambience changed as has the menu but the bias on Italian food can only be commended. Great tasting food, well presented and by the look of it every last table was occupied with some guests waiting even for a second sitting. Family affair lunch and it was a good choice of restaurant. Will very likely return again before I leave in a few weeks back to Africa and, once the weather improves, also try the outside sitting next to the small stream called 'Saalbach' which runs just alongside the garden section.

Exceptionally friendly lady at front of house, doesn't speak English but will try to understand your bad German and help! No English menus but just take a guess as the traditional home cooked food is wonderful. Dog friendly- even came to me to offer water for our dog before I had asked. Generous glasses of wine and good beer. Free overnight parking for 2 motorhomes just outside. We will be back. Clean and can see the chef cooking

We go there with friends and family - in winter to enjoy the cozy atmosphere inside, and in summer to relax in the nice beer garden.Meals and drinks are cheap, but big and great. Delicious huge salads, cheese noodles (Käsespätzle), schnitzel, and many more.A very recommendable place in the Bruchsal area!

... with solid German (heavy) food and a wonderful self brewed beer that you would like (an can) take away in 2l mugs.

Had wanted to try this cafe for quite some time and yesterday I finally managed. Small - only a few tables - with a variety of coffee drinks and cakes. They also have various gift items for purchase.

The menu is extensive with some bias, given the name understandable, on steaks but I was impressed with a range of local dishes served from this part of Baden-Wuerttemberg (name of the state). A work daily table d' hote menu is available and by the look of it popular, as the restaurant over the lunch period was absolutely packed. This guarantees a quick in and quick out service option.I had booked a table indoors but changed my mind to outdoors as the temperature and breeze was inviting. I probably have to go back to try out some of their soups and another main course but the portion of 'Maultaschen' was large enough to eat, feel satisfied and take two more home.Service was attentive and prompt, no delays in getting drinks first and then the food. I think this restaurant offers very good value for money and subsequently comes highly recommended.

A bunch of bikers in dire need of a light lunch, we spotted the garden seating area as we entered Bruchsal and took a punt. Great decision. None of us wanted a big meal - though if we had we'd certainly been well-accommodated, but we opted for conmbinations of soups and starters and ended up as full as we needed to be. I went for the soup with chicken dumplings and a mixed hors d'oeuvres platter. All quite delicious! One of our number is a vegetarian and wanted an omelette with some salads. Not on the menu - but this was not a problem. They don't have the best English but language barriers posed no real difficulties as the staff were most meticulous in ensuring everyone understood and got just what they ordered. In fact the staff were very welcoming and charming and made the whole experience a pleasure. Almost a shame to get back on the bikes!
