Gasthof Dietz is the best German food I have eaten since being stationed in the Illesheim area. Unfortunately, they are only open for one weekend a month for right now. I heard about Simon's Yeager Schnitzel from Alabama and had to try it once I got here. It was better than I expected and my wife and I haven't missed a Sunday that he's been open since! The service is friendly, I've never had a bad dish, and, great for me, Dietz is open on Sundays. I hope you like it as much as I do!

Of course my first time going to Zum Hirschen I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere, the friendly service and of course an English speaking waiter / waitress always helps!

Had a relaxing lunch here with a colleague. The service was friendly and fast. The salad was a mix of fresh vegetables, Kraut and prepared beets. All were delicious! I donât normally enjoy beets, but these were so good. Both of our dishes included pork that was tasty and well prepared. I also loved that they have local wine from the barrel! Highly recommend.

In this gourmet restaurant, our guests are treated with the best in a charming atmosphere. The chefs team, guided by head chef Detlef Schmidt, uses only high quality products with partners that he works with for years. Fresh, seasonal food and a large win
This restaurant is a little on the upscale side, but with friendly service and great food. This was a family friendly restaurant (we saw children on two different trips). The staff speaks English really well and this restaurant appears to get a lot of international travelers. Dear Aaron S,Thank you very much for rating our restaurant, we really appreciate the effort. It is great that you enjoyed you stay that much. As you noted we welcome many interantional travellers as well as local guests which makes us very proud. We are looking forward to your next visit and send best regards from Bad Windsheim,Kerstin Lutz & the Alte Schule team
It was a last minute decision to go here and we were surprised to find a table at a short notice. The place was full and as can imagine had people who come to the wellness place. The menu is that way limited and we ended up ordering 2 vegetable burgers .The food was served pretty quickly and it had a very nice taste. I had ordered a veg patty along with a prawns mango curry and the burger tasted good. The french fries were also freshly made.Overall a satisfying experience!!

I went to this restaurant based on another review. To be fair, I am still new to German cuisine. The service was above average, the gentleman was very forgiving of my poor German speaking skills. He also spoke English well enough to get us through the meal. I ordered a schnitzel. It was very good but I must be a little critical in that it was a little bit too salty. I never did see the restaurant's namesake pear tree but also probably wasn't able to ask intelligently. I would eat there again but I'm not in a hurry to get back.

I've visited this restaurant a number of times and never been disappointed. It has a lovely atmosphere, especially on those summer evenings where you can sit outside. The menu is small and interesting but you will need a grasp of the German language as no English menu is available. Food is always cooked to perfection.

Really good beer, and good traditional Frankish dishes, Would recommend as the place to go in the Bad Windsheim Alstadt for a good German meal.

My wife and I have been here a dozen times or so and it is consistently great food! We always get the Storck Nest, which is a hash brown bowl with farm fresh vegetables inside it, with beef and pork medallions inside with hollandaise sauce. It is very good, especially with a glass of Dunkleweizen beer.

Experience a unique and modern approach of classical german cuisine with extraordinary quality, excellent wines, cocktails and drinks. A large collection of Gin, Vodka, Rum and Whisky is also available. Enjoy an exquisit dinner in the outstanding atmosphe
I've been to this place quite a few times and it's always great. First, the ambiance is everything you'd hope for in a medieval era building - dark wood paneling, low ceilings, but warm atmosphere. If you look up in the ceiling, you can see really old medieval Art painted on the ceiling, barely still visible (the building was built sometime in the 1400s). The food is great traditional german food. I recommend the cordon blue or schnitzel, also the weinsuppe is a great appatizer. The staff speaks English and are very friendly. Enjoy!
