Nice place for having a break during an excursion Try the swabian wurstsalad a kind of sausage saladAnd the Most which is an alcoholic apple wineSelf-service with a nice outside atmosphere
This is a place to watch football and enjoy great local German sports bar food and ambient. Bernie is by far the best bar-tender bar owners that I have seen in several countries!

On a very hot day we loved to go to the beer garden in between the old houses which was lovely and cool. The restaurant is quite simple, the service is good. They pride themselves for their "Maultaschen" which is a South German speciality - >Pasta bags filled with meet or spinach. Typically, Maultaschen are a very good, cheap food. Here, they were very big but the taste was not good. We had "geschmelzt" which is typically cut up Maultaschen, fried in a pan with fresh fried onion but here it was all in soft, soggy onions with a weird sauce. That said, we still enjoyed being there but we should have eaten somewhere else. Probably a good place for a cold beer and Bretzel.

We went to this restaurant for our first dinner in Bad Wimpfen . I opted for the conventional Schnitzel whereas my wife opted for something which had a german title that we did not understand. When we asked the waitress what it was in our mangeled german , she asked the other diners how to describe it in english . Pretty well everyone there had an opinion and a lady nearby came up the the group consensus "Beef Salad". It turned out to be a good choice and after that we had different people coming by to practice their english and ask about our country ( New Zealand). A good night with both the food and the company

This is a good place for drinking and hanging with the cool local German crowd. You may not enjoy it if you are not 18 to 24 and do not speak German.

We visited in 1987 while staying overseas for for business. I talked about the great Chicken for 25 years to my family. Finally had a chance to go back in the last few years. Tasted exactly how I remembered. Fantastic. Glad we made the trip back

We had lunch here on the last weekend of June. We noticed how busy it was and glanced at the dessert offerings. We were hooked. The staff were pleasant, attentive and welcoming. The environment was excellent, outside on a beautiful day with a very picturesque village. While busy the restaurant was not crowded. The table beside were enthusiastically eating the daily special. We tried a variety and we're very pleasantly surprised with the quality and taste. Fresh, genuine flavours, not over spiced or salted. The desert I had was just excellent. We spoke with owners and she advised the receipt had been in their family for over 100 years. The pie was a thing of beauty. Tart, not too sweet, firm, with custard likeBase between pieces of freshly cooked rhubarb all on a twin layer pastry she'll topped with the best meirange I have ever had.

This is located immediately next to reception in Best Western Kastell hotel. The receipt shows Best Western. But it's independent. Cash or card. No charging to room. Friendly, efficient staff. Fairly obvious they'd rather be socialising with their friends, many of whom seem to be hanging around in Juls Bar, wandering in and out of the sliding door, presumably to smoke, drafty every time they open it. Lots of hugging and whooping and noise. Not sure if they work at the hotel or bar but it was all very familiar and to be honest I felt I was intruding by asking for a beer. The food was strange but it does say Steak in the title. Steak, steak, steak or steak or burger. No fish. No pizza. A veggie burger option. Steak well cooked. A bit rare for medium but good. Small salad and kraut. Decent food and not bad price for a hotel. But then, it's not part of the hotel. Or is it. It's a bar, and restaurant. There's a cat. It's in behind the bar. It's in between the tables. Don't say aaah, a cute cat. I'm indifferent to cats but I don't want one under my chair and wandering behind the bar. It's not hygienic. Pic attached. Would put me off staying at this hotel.
