We were taken to the Burg Post Gasthaus-Café by friends on a Sunday morning for an extended breakfast. Our party was made up of six people. The Café is surrounded by greenery and only a short distance from Schloss Eisenbach, the castle dating back to the 13th century. The restaurant has old beams and wooden panelling which make the rooms a touch dark. The tables are old fashioned wooden tables. The breakfast buffet was situated in a separate room and although the café was well frequented there was little to no need to queue and the platters were always quickly replenished. Continental breakfast was available with a good selection of rolls and bread and cold meats and cheeses. Yogurts, cereals and fruit juices were available for the healthy eaters! The food was of a high quality. Coffee and tea was available in plentiful supply. The service was excellent - friendly and attentive. Used plates, cups and glasses were cleared quickly allowing guests to collect more food from the buffet if so wished. The café also offers a small menu of soup, salads and warm dishes (starters and main courses) which we did not try. It appears the café caters for visitors to the castle and hikers and cyclists passing through.Given the opportunity I would gladly return.

Me and my husband had dinner yesterday at the Goldener Karpfen in Fulda. We wanted to go there spontaneously because of our anniversary and called at 18:00 H to ask if they would have a free table for two at eight o´clock; luckily they had a free table for us (despite the short notice) and asked if we were celebrating something, so we said that it was our wedding anniversary. When we got there, they have had decorated the table with flowers and candles. The service was exceptional, very attentive and kind. The food was spectacular and so was the wine too. We received some appetizers while we were waiting as well as some sweets at the end of the dinner. The dessert was the highlight of the dinner, I really recommend you to try it! When we were about to go, we even received a present from the chef because of our celebration. We didnât expect it at all and it made our night⦠Definitely this restaurant has won the good reputation it has as the best restaurant in Fulda. Everything was perfect, service, food and ambient. Would love to come back!

We had a Great Dinner at this Place. Been there many years ago and it is as good now then it was then. I can recommend the lamb dishes.

Durchaus weiterzuempfehlen. Würde beim nächsten Besuch in Lauterbach wieder dahin!

Had an excellent meal here of Klose (potato ball) with a plum (real plums) gravy accompanied by a bacon wrapped filet. One of the best meals we had on our week and a half trip as it was not the typical schnitzel. The meal was well prepared and had an excellent flavor. Not sure if the gravy is seasonal as it was, or was getting close, to plum season. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you find yourself in Schlitz
Ganz klare Empfehlung!
The place is attached to a bakers, the cafe style sets you back instantly into Germany of the eighties, but I don't think they well ever modernise - then they wouldn't fit into the sleepy town of Bad Salzschlirf anymore. Lots of space, decorated with old coffee pots and certificates. After you try the cake, you understand why - exquisite - they have won various baking awards. Cafe also served with water in the old (Vienna) style, very friendly service and prices are reasonable. A good find. With time travel !
