A best restaurant in a cozy bistro Rennes restaurant. On La Reserve restaurant is a cheap restaurant in Bretagne in historic downtown Rennes. A traditional cuisine for dinner in a nice atmosphere and friendly atmosphere. A restaurant with advantages to be
We were left with very positive impressions following our discovery of this friendly restaurant tucked away towards the upper end of the main street in Rennes. The staff (a couple of young men) were friendly, chatty, and efficient. The food was not just good but full of surprises: my wife loved her lentil salad with duck hearts - not something she'd tried before - whilst I was blown away by my main course of veal with carrot puree, because the puree contained kaffir lime, and that really worked. Desserts too were imaginative, with the Rennes Brest a stand out. Great wines from a short but really interesting list. Of the many restaurants we've tried in Rennes, a city we return to regularly, this really left memories.

Our Chef Arnaud Leroy invites you to taste his authentic and creative cuisine. Every day, you could appreciate the Salad of the day, the "cocotte" or the kebab from the market. The restaurant will seduce you by its chic ambience. You will come for a roman
Menu, fixed price board and specials chalk board to choose from. We ate every night during our three nights' stay and every course was excellent. Very friendly, helpful staff who spoke English for non french speakers. Underground car park with lift direct to restaurant.

Had dinner here whilst staying overnight in Balthazar Sofitel. Decent champagne pre dinner, and bottle of Vire Clesse Janneau went well with the meal.Starters were mixed. My wife had Albacore tuna with wasabi etc etc which she said was excellent. I had ravioli of cockles and sea snail with duck consommé which was disappointing, pasta tough, consommé pretty tasteless. For mains my wife had salmon which she enjoyed and I had canon of lamb which was lovely, both served with some brilliant rich pines purée, best I have had since eating at LâAttelier de Robuchon in London years ago....basically a bit of potato with a lot of butter! For desert we had some cheese which was very average, Thom, Fourme and another I have forgotten. Surprisingly uninspiring. The chocolate with parsley cream and other purées was delicious. The restaurant is a bit soulless, but on balance the food was probably 3.75* rather than the 4* I have awarded.Nice to have a half decent restaurant in the hotel as we had travelled for 10 hours in getting to Rennes so didnât want to go out looking for somewhere to eat.Sofitel in house restaurants are usually very good to excellent, this was OK.Dear madam,Dear Sir,We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Balthazar Hôtel & Spa Rennes - MGallery by Sofitel. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback. I will share your comments with our team. I am sure that this feedback will serve as an encouragement to all of our staff as we strive to continuously improve the quality of our services.Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope your next visit will be as pleasant as the previous one.Sincerely,G.ROBERT

All food lovely. The only thing we didn't like we're the giant cockles as part of our seafood starter- not to our taste. The main delicious and dessert yummy. Good food and good value for quality. Doesn't serve wine by the glass though- not really a problem.

Le Galopin is a high end brasserie just steps from our hotel in Rennes. It was an easy choice to eat dinner here. I had the âgourmet menuâ, and my wife ordered a la carte. She had sardines for starter, and then king prawns. My menu included tarter of crab meat, salmon and tuna with yuzu juice, wild sea bass, and tart a tan for dessert. All the dishes were well done and tasty. The restaurant is big, and noisy and fun. The wait staff were very friendly and jovial. All in all, an excellent dinner.

The food is amazing. I had the rabbit appetizer, served on a bed of diced artichoke hearts, with an algae foam, followed by the lotte (burbot, eelpout), and both were outstanding--cooked to perfection, with delicious, inventive accompaniments. We ate at the small outdoor terrace, which is on a fairly busy street. The dining room is spacious and cheery. Every dish was delicious. And the price was a great value for the quality delivered.
