This is essentially a summertime, outdoor restaurant, catering largely to tourists but with a strong local following as well. My wife and I visited twice for meals during a week's holiday in Vence, once having pizzas, which were no better than average, but on the second occasion I opted for one of the restaurant's specialities from its wood-fired oven while my wife opted for a pasta dish. Again, the pasta dish was decidedly 'average' but my rabbit was unexpectedly delicious. It was served from a battered old dish straight from the oven and it had been singed in places as had added cloves of garlic and herbs. Potatoes from the same battered dish appeared to have been cooked by a flame thrower but were bathed in an unctuous sauce and tasted sublime. This was the very epitome of rustic French cooking and I would happily go back for more. As for pizza and pasta, there are better places to enjoy them in Vence. Service was pleasant and efficient and there was no interminable wait for the bill.

We have been regularly visiting this restaurant under Mr. Scordel, who's creativity and hospitality we've loved. After the ownership has changed we were not sure what to expect and waited few months before visiting the place. And... what a great surprise! It has not only kept all the positives from the past, but added a lot of fresh notes and superb ideas. Very creative, imaginary cuisine, superbly presented. Fresh, savory compositions, driven by the season, with some Basque twist but still very French in execution and presentation. If one looks for gastronomic experience, respecting best ingredients and seasons, combining eclectic ideas with very modern culinary attitude - it is a great place to visit. Very friendly and professional service helps to enjoy the pleasures of food. Last but not least - we have been very positively surprised by the price we paid. For the quality offered it was like a gift! All together it is one of the best offers in the area. A must to visit and experience. We will certainly come back. Highly recommended to all food lovers.Dear Madam , dear Sir, it is with a great pleasure that we read your fantastic comment about our establishment , for which we would like sincerely to thank you ! We're so happy that our restaurant room , our cook , as well as the service have delighted you ! We were very happy to received you and to have met you. We hope to welcome you again for you to taste new flavors ! Thank you so much and see you soon !

We choose to have dinner in a restaurant in st Paul-de-Vence, me and two friends on Monday evening. (quite a lot of restaurants are closed on Monday so we ended up at La Fontaine. It started already disastrous. Two of the ordered menus were not available and one only half a fish was left over from the lunch service (Dorade) .The fish dinner was compensated with some deep fried fish balls which in a standard food hall would let to an uproar of the clients. In addition the rest of the dorade (half) was dry and uneadable. My two friends had duck breast and could hardly consume this meat with far too many flying hours. In addition we paid for one bottle of average wine and 3 uneadable menus 150 Euro.Fell free to go there, but I will never come back.
