The must visit bar, restaurant and cafe in the heart of Hugh town on St Mary's. We provide excellent food, drinks and service. Top quality produce will be served daily from our open kitchen where you can enjoy fantastic harbour views, marvel at the skill
Unprepossessing entrance next to the public toilets, but once you get upstairs WOW. Revamped shipping office with a clean bright finish, but making use of original features and artefacts. First rate, friendly, unhurried service. Excellent menu, food properly cooked and well presented. Not the cheapest place in St Marys, but well worth it. Soo good we returned a couple of nights later.

The Mermaid is situated is the first and last public house you will see when leaving st Maryâs or arriving by ferry . It has 2 bars and a 60 seat restaurant on the top floor overlooking the beautiful harbour and the off islands. It can be accessed via the
We love the Mermaid for its history and great pub atmosphere. The lunch menu is excellent and I had sole fillets with veg which were really well prepared and presented. The bar can get very busy at times as this is a âproper pubâ. Food is very good regardless.

Food is important to us and so is where we source and purchase our ingredients. Our ethical policy supports our passion for seasonal and local produce, which are at the heart of all our menus, and include slow reared beef, pork and lamb from our own farm.
It is obvious that the staff have been well trained in top quality service. The food was superb on piping hot plates. We would definitely recommend the restaurant for an evening meal. Remember to book though!

Pre-booked for a Wednesday dinner, was very busy when we arrived and we were immediately informed of menu items that werenât available - quite a few of them. Luckily this didnât affect our choice. My husband had never eaten lobster and decided to try the half with garlic and chive butter. I opted for the slow cooked beef brisket with soft shell tacos. The food arrived extremely quickly - less than 10 minutes from order which surprised me considerably, I had assumed the brisket would be pre cooked but a lobster would take longer......The lobster was served with fries and a small dish of coleslaw, my husband enjoyed it. The beef tacos were disappointing - 3 tacos probably max 3â diameter each, the beef was quite spicy but didnât really have much flavour, a side of coleslaw and salsa and sour cream made it a light bite rather than a full meal. Followed up with profiteroles which were lovely and a generous portion. The Beach had a lively atmosphere, tables are quite close together. Staff were efficient and chatty. Good range of bottled beers, good wine list.
