Lola 45 , is a trendy Bistro, with a market cuisine that change every week, the wine list is crisp, fun and brings you everywhere on the planet !
We went to Lola 45 for a special occasion. We had the luxury of eating outside right in front of the village church. Lola 45 is located in a great location. We had the octopus and the duck heart as a first course. The octopus was well cooked and although we were a surprised at first when the waiter told us there were chopped grasshoppers in the meal, it actually did not taste anything different. While this should not prevent anyone from having the octopus, you have to wonder if it was really necessary to add that to the meal. We also add the duck hearts and the meal was really good.As a main course, we had the trout confit and the sweetbreads. The trout was perfectly cook, tender and with a wonderful colour. A must try for anyone looking for a fish meal. The grilled sweetbreads were also perfectly cooked and the carrot/orange puree gave a great acidity twist. One downside. While I know kale is somehow popular among a certain crowd, do we really need to put this in a meal in a restaurant where people go to enjoy a nice dinner? I would strongly recommend removing this from the meal. For dessert, we had the crumble and the chocolate cake. Again, great choices. Finally, the wine list was imaginative and we always appreciate restaurants who go the extra mile to find special wines. On the downside, 2 times during the meal, we were told the wines we wanted were out of stock. And replacing a Sauternes with a Gaillac is not the same. So while we will clearly be coming back, we still feel there is room for improvement. And please do not put a tasting menu on the menu if it is not available.

The menu is reasonable with a decent selection of appetizers and entrees. The quality of the food left something to desire. The veggie burger was poor and the fries cold. The steak was alright but nothing outstanding. I was expecting better, but it is hard to find in this town.

In recent past, three top restaurants in this region have closed. With twelve years of experience, Recto Verso should be the good restaurant. Maybe it's me that I'm not wild about local Québécois cuisine, but I think Recto Verso tries too hard. My wife ani with another couple had a weekend supper there. We eachhad a two or three course meal w coffee. There were three very good dishes: a carrot soup, an Arctic Char substitute for the listed fish, and two desserts - Creme brûlée and a multiple chocolate dish. Three mains and two appetizers were average at best. For example, my lamb, pulled lamb on too many onions, an over salted sauce, topped by a very fatty small chop (two good bites) was unfinishable.Go for a simpler, more delicious menu, Recto Verso!Service also was unsatisfactory: good knowledge and very personable, but we waited too long on every element.

The service is very attentive and friendly. We stopped for a pitcher of sangria and picked-up some munchies. The crab cake, potato skins, tuna were all very good even with the same salad garnish. A very good salad made with mixed greens, red cabbage, shredded carrots and celery. We the shared a very good beef tartare, well seasoned served with fresh French Fries. No wonder that place is always packed. All of the above for less than $100.00.Great terrace.Hi Guillaumeleconqueran!I'm so very glad to read you review! Thank you very much for all the compliments and let me say, it was a pleasure to serve you. Friendly, funny and happy. I thought you were a great couple. Hope to see you again for another little tasting buffet!
